Hi Everyone, My Grandfather Frederick Hardy was Assistant Superintendent of passenger traffic from York to Berwick with the LNER untill his retirement in 1947. I can't find him in the Employment records for LNER on Ancestory . Any ideas what to do next ?
THanks
Nick

Hi , Thanks for reply. He was born in 1882 and started as a clerk at Scarborough station for the NER . I know he was there in 1900. After that a gap . He lived in York, then Sunderland and then Newcastle where the local paper recorded his retirement with a photograph. There are family stories of his meeting the king and Queen at Newcastle for the opening of the Tyne Bridge. He retired to his birth place Thornton Dale N Yorks.

It is possible that by 1922 when the LNER was formed he had been promoted so that he was a railway officer, the railways being a bit title conscious, and officer records may not be included with the more lowly staff.
Mike.
