This one has not been posted before. There are three Edwardian ladies heading out for the day (plus the photographer!). The middle lady has one of those seats on a pole and an umbrella, so presumably off to watch some outdoor activity. :)

You could very well be right. I think this one is going to be tough as there aren't very many clues are there.

I think the women on the left and right resemble each other facially. Mother daughter or 2 sisters?

They do have similar angular features, but hard to really tell their ages, however you could be right.

That entrance looks continental to me. I have a book listing all the castles, manor houses etc which were destroyed in WW1 in the Ypres area.Each one with photographs before and after.
Could that be a possibility?
Many were commandeered as Headquarters by each side consequently they were prime targets .Most were totally destroyed.

My thoughts too, when I first looked at the photo. I'd say mother & daughter, though could be sisters if from a big family (e.g. oldest & youngest)

Added: It actually looks nicer from the rear view than the front. Sadly Jool's link gives plenty of background to the family so no fun for the rootschatters to try to chase them up.

AW NO!! I guess I knew our luck had to run out sooner or later…such a shame, but at least it wasn't torn down to build a car park. :( :( :(

Reading through that excellent biography of the Norman family, you would have to think they knew the Clifton Browns. One of the Norman family was Sheriff of Kent, wasn't one of the C-Bs or Hanbury's Sheriff of London, you would think they would have met in official capacities possibly. Also I note they have some connection to a street named Brewery Lane.
Also while I think of it, did you note that the owners of Skeabost House were Whiskey makers. There seems to be a common thread of alcohol between these homes and their owners! ;D

I would also love to know SL's technique and will take notes! :D It is a shame. I was hoping to add another one to my itinerary of stately home visits, not to be though.

Just another connection if my memory serves me correctly, but weren't the Clifton Browns bankers, which could be another connection to the Norman family who were also bankers.
The lady in the photo could possibly be Mildred Norman, wife of Archibald Norman that resided in the Rookery as per the 1901 census. They had four children, the eldest being Mary aged 9 in 1901 and Virginia 7. The photos assuming they were taking around the same time as Burnham Beeches photos, makes this around 1907ish so they definitely don't fit.
I really need to start fact sheets for all these photos…unless anyone would like to volunteer and write them? It will be ages before I can get around to do it as I've got so much scanning and dating of photos yet to finish, so if anyone feels inclined all help gratefully received!

I was thinking that the family who lived and owned this house has already been researched, but yes, trying to find a link to the Hanbury or Clifton Browns would be a nice little exercise. :)

If you look at the 1901 census, the number of servants they had reads like the cast of characters appearing in Downton Abbey.

For those that wondered 'how?'.
In a word, luck.
I was looking for another WAI, the one with the mansard (mansart?) roof, when I spotted a building that had a very similar window design to this WAI but the frontage was flat. Followed up on that on the possibility that either the architect worked in the same area or the building had another, similar side and hey presto!
Incidentally, I had thought of a way to locate areas connected with named families but had not had much luck with finding the appropriately aged resource online. I'm fairly sure that Who's who listed home and country residences in the past, so providing the Clifton Browns were in it their respective home turfs might have been listed. Burke's possibly also does this though the qualifying conditions for their publications may have excluded the Browns.

Hiya Caz, I had a look last night and again tonight for a connection between these families, nothing as yet but I'm still poking around. They may not be connected by marriage but as you say there could be a connection through their business or social circles.
As for the common theme of alcohol, I think I would blend in quite nicely with these families ;D
