Title: Sarah Cookson or Crookson?
Post by: GenesA on Sunday 12 April 15 16:54 BST (UK)
Sarah Cookson on married James Harris on 8th Apr 1827 in Meole Brace. The censuses say she was born in Meole Brace about 1803.

I have the baptism of a Sarah Crookson who was baptised on 2nd December 1804 in Meole Brace. Her parents were John and Martha. I haven't seen the original image and I don't know if she has been accidentally transcribed as Crookson.

Does anyone have access to the original image? Or, if not, know where I can see it?

Thanks,
Betty

Hi Betty
John and Martha Crookson also had Jane (1794), John(1797), Thomas (1799)and William(1795) baptised at Meole Brace so not a clerical error with Sarah :)

There is a John Cookson marrying a Martha Pugh in Cound (a six miles from Meole Brace) in Aug 1792.
No obvious John Crookson marriage to a Martha
Hope that helps

Karen

Hi

Children born to John and Martha

Jane Crookson 1794
William Crookson 1795
John Crookson 1797
Thomas Crookson 1799, possible witness on Sarah's marriage ? and who is Martha Jones
Sarah Crookson 1804

I think that somewhere a long the line, they have dropped the r in Crookson, I think that you may need to check all the Crookson's out, to see if you can find more links

Hi,
Sorry for not replying sooner! You've done so much work! The Jane Cookson marriage is interesting because of  the Harris surname. Perhaps John Harris is a relation of James?

Thanks, MargP!

A Jane Cookson baptises a 'natural son' John at Meole Brace 30 Apr 1820. Is this hers and John Harris's son do you think?
