I am looking for clarification/confirmation on the information I have with James Aitken & wife Eliza Jane. I originally found them in the Scotland census records & Eliza was age 32 & born about 1858/9 in Antrim.
I have her maiden name as McCrudden. I also have their marriage as Nov. 9, 1877 in Randlstown 2nd Presbyterian church. This has Eliza's father listed as Samuel. One glitch here is that it states she was over 21 at the time of her marriage. Her birth year would then have had to be at least 1856 and not 1858 as on the Scotland census. They are both living in Ballydunmaul.
I have done a search here and found an Elizabeth McCrudden also from Randalstown with father named Samuel who was born in 1867. The poster (Floppy Davis) has that Elizabeth McCrudden attached to her Thomas Davidson family.
I am not sure what to think now. Is there more than one Samuel McCrudden in Randalstown with a daughter Elizabeth Jane? I'm looking for the one with a daughter born in 1856 or 1858.
Thanks for any help you can give with Eliza's parents.

Hmm. After looking at the posts from Floppy Davis, I see (her) Samuel McCrudden & Esther Lee were married in 1869.
I am thinking that this may be MY Eliza Jane's brother & their father was also a Samuel McCrudden! Now that would make sense!
Hoping to confirm this idea! Hoping to then find Eliza's mother's name as well. ;)

Hi,
On 17 Jan 1851 there was a marriage of a Samuel McCrudden to Susan Magregor(or McGregor) in Randlestown Second Presbyterian Church. The fathers' names were Mathew McCrudden and John McGregor.

Thank you for the replies. I think we can eliminate the Samuel McCrudden & Ester Lee family now. I thought he could have been a brother but it is not the case.
The Samuel McCrudden & Susan Magregor/McGregor looks very promising. A marriage in 1851 would definitely put them in the category for having a child in 1856-59 (Eliza's varying birth year span).
I had originally posted here on the Scotland board as that is where the Aitken/Aicken family moved to. A kind lady is going to look up Eliza's death information for me. She said it should have her parents names listed on it. I will (hopefully) get her exact date of birth as well.
We should be able to inch forward after that information is received. :)

I have found information from James & Eliza's death records the names of their parents!!
Death in 1911- Eliza Jane McRudden: Father- Samuel McRudden, agricultural labourer, deceased
Mother- Susan Montgomery, deceased
Death in 1947- James Aitken: Father- William Aitken, deceased
Mother- Catherine McNicol, deceased
Now that we have the correct names, I am hoping to find more information. :)
Thanks!

For anyone following this post-
I have found through DNA matches that the Samuel McCrudden Jr. family is a match to the Eliza McCrudden family. As they both have the same name listed as a father I will go out on a limb & say it's highly likely that they are indeed siblings.

When you consider the address, father's details and the names of the two witnesses in the following Shaw marriage of 1876, this looks like a potential sibling of Eliza Jane:

Wow! Yes! This is a match!
Thank you so much!

The couple seemed to have moved south to what is now the northern outskirts of greater Belfast, according to their childrens' births. Here's the naming pattern:
