Hello - Is anybody familiar with Streets in Castle Douglas 1926- I have a death cert. The informant's address looks like 238 Sling Street, or Fling Street.
also - the death was of a young lady who was a teacher at Corseglass School - she was only 24 and died of heart failure. Would this death have been in a newspaper -and can anybody recommend which one I should try - she died 5 October

Hi there is a street map of the area at this link
http://www.maplandia.com/united-kingdom/scotland/scotland/dumfries-and-galloway/castle-douglas/
I read that Castle Douglas has changed little since it was redeveloped in 1700's so perhaps you can spot your street there.

Could it be King St. ?

Just had another look and it could be King Street. It must be quite a long street as the number is 238.
Thanks everybody for the help

Hi
Was the lady you mentioned Miss Wells? If so there is a mention of her here:
http://www.kirkcudbright.co/deathNotices.asp?DateSearch=1926&offset=150
Unfortunately it does not list which newspaper this came from.
Hope this helps

It will be King Street - this is the main/High street in Castle Douglas and is quite long, running most of the length of the town.
