I would like to know if anyone knows who the ancestors of David Belcher are?
David Belcher who married Sarah Hannah Dealey in 1891 in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England.
They had the following children between 1891 and 1900:
Annie Caroline, Florence Eliza, Charles, Lewis, Joseph, John David, Elizabeth Annie and Hilda Louise (and Samuel?)
The children were all born in Great Berkhamsted, Hertford.
Any other information about this family would also be much appreciated.

1. I have no idea where David was born.
2. I don't know how to access the Census roles of 1871 and 1881.
3. I do not have a copy of his marriage certificate, as I don't know exactly when and where he was married.
I was hoping someone would know of David's history.

Wrong familes I'm afraid, the David Belcher I'm checking on was married around 1891 and had the children I mentioned in my post.
I have no knowledge of him being married previously, and I'm fairly certain he was not.

Well done Mabel - so your train of thought is that David Belcher was married previously - hence the children showing on the 1891 census.
As Keyboard shows the 1891 census gave 2 children born prior to the marriage of David and Sarah Hannah Dealey.
The marriage of Rose Elizabeth Belcher 19 August 1899 - names her father as David Belcher.

( on earlier returns Sarah Hannah/Ann uses her middle name), on the same day a David Belcher occ Labourer and Mary of Red Lion Square baptised a David Belcher, he died March qtr 1886 Berhampstead 3a 387 aged 1

I've checked back using your information and have now found children from David's previous marriage; David's parents and David's mother's parents. I apologise for not checking your info and the others out before I responded to you. Thank you so much.
