I can only find Culgrange and the Culgrange Cottage.

Hi

If you look on the National Library of Scotland website they have a lovely selection of old maps including a georeferenced section so you can compare old maps with current ones.

http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=5&lat=56.0000&lon=-4.0000&layers=1 (http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=5&lat=56.0000&lon=-4.0000&layers=1)

Using the Ordinance Survey County Series 6 inch map from 1888-1913 I can see a place marked as Grange Moor a short way north of Culgrange towards High Barnultoch. It may be what is now called Culmick.  [54°, 52', 30' N 4°, 59', 17' W]

The road leading to it has been photographed here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3876255 (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3876255)

Could this be the location mentioned in your certificate?

I believe this to be a very good candidate. I am on different Wigtownshire forums gathering local information, would need confirmation rather than just accept. I thank you for relentlessly mulling over the maps and your interest in the post.
best wishes.

The 1841 census for Inch has a Farmer John Burns aged 50 b Ireland living at Grange,  a farmhouse but don't know where about it is.

At the back of the Inch 1841 census book purchased from D&GFHS  it lists all the farms and farmers names - it states:   Farm, GRANGE      Farmer, JOHN BURNS AND AGNES GIBSON
