I am not sure of this.
I think there may be a link between these 2 combinations.
A very left field request, but can anyone bring the two together ?
Joseph Donougher married Alice Bawden in 1944. Both are deceased.
There is a birth in 1946 for a Donougher, Christian name starting with E, and mother a Power.
How do the 2 combinations interlock ?
Does it go back further ?
I belong to Joseph & Alice.

The most straight forward way would be to buy the marriage certificate for William Donougher which should give his father's name.

I suppose the link has to be made between:
RG12/2967 William Donougher and family 1891 Census, and
Chris Donohue, 13 Mann St in Bootle, Lancs, who had a son, Simon in the 1891 census. Simon was my grandfather. happy to accept the alternative spelling. Surname is not phonetic.
Sorry but this has been bugging me for years and I must admit to prior research, but no solution.

A copy of the GRO Marriage Index shows

The local Registrar's Index has -
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1944
Surname, Forename(s); Surname, Forename(s); Church / Register Office; Registers At; Reference
DONOUGHER, Joseph; BAWDEN, Alice; South Sefton Register Office or Registrar Attended; South Sefton CR/13/127
Taken together these two show that joseph DONOUGHER married Alice BAWDEN in July, August or September 1944, and it is likely that the marriage took place in the Register Office or a Catholic church - most Non-Conformist churches had an Authorised Person for marriages by this time.
The GRO Birth Indexes have the four entries in the period 1944 - 1947 with mother's Maiden Names, PENDER, BAWDEN, and POWER (2)
This suggests that there are three DONOUGHER families in the greater Liverpool area at this time.
Checking the GRO Marriage Index again shows three entries with the groom DONOUGHER for a fairly narrow year range. The bride's names are BAWDEN (1944) spouse Joseph, POWER (1946) spouse William, and GREEN (1946) spouse Joseph
I was unable to find a death of an Alice DONOUGHER in the GRO Death indexes for 1944 - 1947
As has been suggested, the only source of more information will be the marriage certificates.

If you have your Joseph's age (the one who married Alice BAWDEN) then you might be able to decide which birth belongs to your Joseph. The Joseph born in 1921 seems to have a brother William. The marriage of their parents looks like -

As the others have said we can’t answer this query you need to buy the marriage records to establish who their fathers were and do further research looking for them on census records and perhaps buying further certificates before you can establish if they are related to your family or not.
Is this 1861 family yours? I would think there’s a good chance that one or maybe the two of those other Donoughers might be descended from this family:-

Re the 1861 census.
I am happy with the Donaker/Donougher variation. Especially as according to my research,
1841 Marriage Esther Power to Matthew Donaugher Ref. 175 @ St Mary's Liverpool.
I am sure the Christopher you refer to is my g grandfather. In 1880 he marries Letitia Kirby in St Thomas' Litherland/Waterloo, which is actually the church in which I was baptised. His age was 24, therefore born 1856. That's a 2 year variation on Blue's Christopher but well within the realm of possibility.
Funny how the Power name returned to the story.
And add this to the mix.

Michael Power Head, with William, Michael and Christopher Donoghoe as Nephews in the house. Christopher born 1855. Perhaps this is the link?

I'd forget about those other 1940s marriages if you're not going to order a record or two it'll just do your head in wondering where they fit in, if at all.
Did this family go back to Ireland and then return to Liverpool? That would explain Irish births after the Liverpool marriage. This record appears to show Christopher being baptised in Liverpool but I can't find a birth index for him. Have you got this?:-

Hi again.
I have no proof but it seems logical that the family went back to Ireland and once again returned to Liverpool. No, I didn't have Christopher's baptism. Thanks for that. They must have returned to England between 15 Dec & 7 Jan. At least mother & Christopher.
Do you know if the Liverpool History Projects site is still being compiled ? It was useful in the past but now seems dormant.

An aside to the search.
I have already stated I am the son of the Joseph Donougher & Alice Bawden marriage in South Sefton or Crosby registers.
Monday 11 May will be the 100th birthday of my father, now deceased for 10 years.
Having migrated to Australia, I am assembling my remaining cousins and we are having a Scouse & rice pudding lunch to celebrate the occasion.
The reason for the Scouse is obvious but the rice pudding comes about because my mother cooked it EVERY Sunday of the year, 52 weeks, and had 52 variations. None of them memorable.
A bit of fun and a step into the past. Now! Back to the search!

Have a great time Alan. LHP has been superseded now really by Ancestry's Liverpool RC records.
According to an online tree the Joseph Donougher (Births Q4 1914 Donougher Joseph, Rogers, West Derby, 8b 855) married Mary Pender in 1937 was the son of John Donougher and Elizabeth Alice Bertha Rogers. John Donougher was the son of William Donougher (brother of your Christopher) and Mary Ann (Martin?).
The William Donougher who married Eileen Power in 1946 is likely the son of Joseph Donougher and Catherine Butchard who married in Liverpool in 1918. Joseph was a son of William and Mary Ann so both these men appear to be grandsons of your Christopher’s brother. Just a guess. To confirm get the certificates.

My Joseph Donougher, father, was born 1915. His mother was Julia Mahon(e)y. Julia's birth name was Woods. Her mother, Catherine, came from the IOM. There was a Mylchreest in her pedigree as of course there was with 1000's of others.
I am careful as to how much information that I offer, too soon. Hope you understand. Makes people offer their information without a prompt.
