Title: Where is Llanboddy
Post by: Quarryman on Saturday 23 May 15 10:33 BST (UK)
In the 1741 Llanbedr y Cennin parish register marriage entries there is an entry for Robert Jones and Elizabeth Parry. I have deciphered the groom's home (in Denbighshire) but the bride is not "of this parish" but from a place called (my best deciphering) as Llanboddy. I cannot find it on any map. Does anyone know, or can hazard a guess, as to where this is.

There is a LLanboidy village in Carmarthenshire - could that be it?

If you look at the entries around the one for Robert Jones you will notice that the clerk at the time doesn't use the term "of this parish" for his parishioners; he writes A of Llanbedr married B of Caerhun, X of Llandegai married Y of Llanbedr etc; so I am fairly certain that Elizabeth Parry is "of Llanbedr"

Thanks, guys, for all your help. I'm going with Llanbedr.
