Title: Death of Catherine Rowlands
Post by: ElRow on Monday 25 May 15 07:04 BST (UK)
Dear All
It's a while since my last posting. But I wonder if all you clever, generous people out there could help me find a Catherine Rowlands' death around 1901. She was born a twin to my husband's grandfather in 1883 in Talysarn, Dyffryn Nantlle. I have his birth certificate. She is on the 1901 census living in Cloddfa Goed, Talysarn. They are quarry cottages. Then she is on the 1911 census living on Penbryn Madog Farm, Talysarn. Family stories say that she died when she was 18 but I cannot find a record of her death. Of course she could have married first which would be a problem. Thank you for your time. Eleri

If she died around 1901 then she wouldn't be on the 1911 census  :-\

It might be just a story and she married and lived to a ripe old age!  Who were her parents?

Is the twin Evan John and the parents John & Mary?

If so there is a tree with death for Catherine in 1910 age 26 but I don't see a matching entry for her unless she was married as you suggest.

There are marriages in 1902/1906 to spouse Roberts or Williams/Hughes in Carnarvon district (if that's the correct district) to cross check deaths with.

Thank you both so much. Yes I didn't think that one out did I?

I will do some work on that 1926 one. You are right about her parents and also her twin brother. He was my husband's grandfather. I just felt sad about her short life and felt I wanted her brother's descendants to know something about her.
Thank you

Hi
If she was on 1911 Census, a possible marriage to Richard Jones at Eglwys Peblig Sant, Caernarfon, last quarter of 1911. Catherine in Free BMD,  Catherine J in North Wales BMD.
Parish Registers for the Church at Caernarfon Archives. I've moved away from Caernarfon area and have no plans at the moment to go to Caernarfon.

Do you have an ancestry sub ? there is a tree going down to present day for Catherine's brother's descendants ? this one has her death in 1910 aged 26 ? perhaps you could contact the owner

Diolch Nestagj

I gave a subscription to Find my Past but haven't seen anything on that. But my cousin is with Ancestry so I shall ask her to help. Thank you so much. You're all so generous with your time.

I did find Catherine on the 1911 census living in Coed Madog Ucha, Talysarn with her husband John Hugh Williams and two young children, Hugh and Mary. Taking into consideration Mabel's findings that she attended her twin brother's wedding in February 1917 when she lived in Cae Mawr, Talysarn she was obviously more than 18 when she died. Would you believe we have actually stayed at Cae Mawr which is a lovely b&b now.
If someone has time I wonder if you could find her death as Catherine Williams of Cae Mawr please?
Thanks so much

The snippet of 1906 giving the marriage  to John Hugh Williams has him of Rhedyw Terrace. There is both a NorthWalesBMD birth and an 1871 census that might give him as being born in 1870.Further there is a 1933 death in Caernarfon for a John H Williams and an Ancestry probate record for John Hugh Williams Caernarvonshire in 1933.I don't have further details but if this is Catherine's husband the probatel may give a clue as to whether she is alive or not in 1933.

Thank you Roger. I haven't thought of tracing his roots. Too many grandchild minding duties I think! Thanks so much.
