Title: Charles White Esq
Post by: fance on Wednesday 10 June 15 15:37 BST (UK)
Hi
I'm new to Welsh history but I am searching a Charles White Esq. He died 2 Nov 1841 and was buried in Llanfihangel Abergwesyn, Brecon. I have attached the burial notice

My question is where would the cemetery be? We were hoping for a headstone as he was quite wealthy, he once owned Branston Hall in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

Could someone point me in correct direction for the cemetery?

I am in Australia

Thanks if you can help

Hi and welcome to Rootschat  :)

Some of my husband's ancestors are buried at Abergwesyn.  The church has been demolished but the churchyard remains.  Last time I visited some of it was rather overgrown.

Here are a couple of links for you:

I am not aware of a transcript of gravestones.

You might also want to have a look at the Welsh Newspapers for information about the funeral.

Hi

Welcome to rootschat  :)

His burial was 7th November 1845 age 65.  The page you are showing only has a few burials on it starting in 1841 and ending 1846.

On the next page is Ann Elizabeth White also of Aberannell who was buried 22 February 1847 age 70

Thanks for links Barbara, the pic of cemetery was wonderful! I wasnt sure where he was buried going by the name, I found the Llanfihangel one but now know its Abergwesyn! also looking at the Welsh newspaper link, there is not a lot of extra info I knew from searching papers in Ancestry but confirmed our suspicions, but now can look at other family members, thank you  :-*

Also Rosie, thanks for that info but I do have the page but it wouldnt let me upload it as it was too big and I see he died 1845, I must have mistook it for the 1841 census when he was in the  Hamlet of Treflys - Llangammarch....sorry for spelling :)

I appreciate any info I may receive and this has all helped tremendously!!
