Frank Howard Alden/Elden/ Eldon has changed through the years or wrongly translated He was born in St marys area of Reading in 1865 with father Frank and mother Eva
I cant find a marriage for these two We know Frank was a journey man tailor
Frank we believe was born in St Pancras in 1833 and lived there later on with two other wives
Was wondering whether any one had access to Parish records which might show surname of Eva Thanks

You might have to buy Frank junior's birth certificate to show his mother's maiden name
Frank Howard Alden

Not the same mother (where did the name Eva come from?) but there is a tree with his parents as
Frank Richard Howard Alden
Louisa Grace Williams
Who did your Frank marry?
Tree has his wife as Elizabeth Sophia Hadlow

Eva is on the baptism transcription. There doesn't appear to be a death of an Eva though.

Eva is a possibily, as that is the only record I could find in Reading was Frank with mother Eva
and frank was a tailor journeyman
Also he named two of his children Eva in future marriages
He married Louisa in 1853 and she can be seen with daughter Eva Alma abt1859 on 1871census
She shows up in Noel Street St James Westminster
Frank would only have been 5 then and was not present
Louisa left a will when she died in 1889 leaving all money to Ada Alma mis spelling of daughters name i thought
Its all very confusing because of all the different spellings of name

Possibly of interest is this family in 1871:
24, Bennett Street, Cold Bath, Greenwich
Walter Shepherd head M 26 Bricklayer
Eva Shepherd wife M 29 Windsor, Berks
Frank Shepherd son 6 Reading, Berks
Florence Shepherd daur 4 Greenwich
Emily Shepherd daur 11m Greenwich
I can't see a marriage of a Walter Shepherd (or variant) and an Eva.
There is a baptism in Greenwich of Emily Shepherd d/o Walter and Eva, but I can't see one for Florence.
Frank Aldon aged 16 born in Reading is lodging in Greenwich in 1881

So if Frank senior married Louisa in 1853 and she didn't die until 1889, she was either Frank junior's mother as he was born in 1865, or the marriage had split up and Frank junior was the illegitimate son of Frank and Eva. That might explain why there is no marriage.
Who is Frank senior with in 1871?
-
I cant find either Frank in 1871 I just found Frank Shephard
Does it say on batism record for Emily what Evas name was before Marriage
-
Unfortunately it doesn't - I would have said :) . It's quite unusual to get the mother's maiden name in England and Wales baptism records, especially after baptism registers were standardised in 1813.
I can't find Eva either before or after 1871. Eva is not a particularly popular name in early Victorian England, and there are no births registered in Windsor district with the name Eva at least up to 1845.
I'm wondering whether it was actually the name she started with.

Does Louisa state she is married in 1871? Yes she does.
Don't suppose Eva is Louisa all along, I haven't seen the baptism record - is it online?
If the name was scrawled it just might be misconstrued :-\

Louisa left a will when she died in 1889 leaving all money to Ada Alma mis spelling of daughters name i thought
Her birth registration is actually under Ada Alma Alden not Eva
Mar 1860 St James

I think you are going to have to get Frank's birth certificate.

Thanks for that Seems I might never know

Why not, her maiden name will on the certificate? I'm afraid that sometimes buying the certificate is the only way forward and is worth it if it is a direst line.
