Hi,
Does anyone have a layout or map of Hillsborough Cemetery?
I have traced my gt-gt-gt grandmother to there, Area 8 Block V Lot No 136.
It's only an hours drive for me to get there, but it looks like quite a large cemetery. I would prefer not to spend too much time aimlessly wandering around looking for her.
I cant find anything on the Council website.
If you have a map or know where Area 8 Block V Lot No 136 is, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks, SpudKiwi

Janette has an excellent map of Hillsborough cemetery.
This week is looking like rubbish for me, so hopefully next week I'll be able to pop up to the big smoke to find gt-gt-gt- grandmother Mary.
-
I meant to say that from memory the plot you are after is on a fairly steep slope, mind your footing ;D ;D in the past I have kissed the ground in several cemeteries ::) ::) ::) ::)

Being winter, I'll take my gumboots. And a hard-hat. Wouldn't want to slip and get cracked-skull syndrome from hitting something other than grass!

Ski poles might be handy ;D ;D

I was going to take Dad with me but I might rethink that now. He's not overly steady these days.
-
We (Mum, Dad, hubby and I) went to the cemetery today.
The plot turned out to be quite close to the carpark and we found it in about 5 minutes thanks to the excellent maps provided by Janette.
Ski poles were not necessary, nor spiked boots. The headstone is still quite readable but starting to show signs of wear. The concrete surface has a big crack in it, and I've seen far too many zombie movies to be entirely comfortable with that.
Where can I buy those concrete-based flower holders? I saw some on other graves and thought they looked like a good idea, if you cement them to the concrete surface.
-
Hi
I am so pleased you found the grave.
A monumental mason will have the flowerpot holders there are a few in South Auckland and they have 0800 phone numbers

Did a detailed map with plot numbers get posted? If not, does anyone have one? Rosemary F
-
Yes, the maps were emailed to me.
If you message me your email address I can forward them to you.
-
Dear Spud Kiwi, is it possible to post the maps as a PDF as I know other people who would be interested? A lot of the plots are impossible to read. Look forward to hearing from you. Rosemary F
-
Hi Rosemary,
I just had a look at the maps Janette sent me. They are just for the area I was looking for, not for the whole cemetery, and the files are bigger than is allowed for attachments.
I am happy to email what I have to you but they might not cover the area you are interested in.
There is a pdf of the overall cemetery by Whenu earlier in this thread.
Otherwise perhaps try contacting Janette.

Hi Janette, That would be great. But for some reason I am not allowed to send private messages? I don't know why.

Thank you very much Janette. I have just printed it off.
You don't happen to know if there is one like the one you sent me for Waikaraka Cemetery? We gave up yesterday. Some of the graves there are in such a sad state, which is heart breaking.
-
A word of warning it is a very steep cemetery
Cheers Janette

Hi Janette, can you please email the plot map for Area 1 Block A #167 (Alfred Maberly) and #531 (Lucia Lindsay).
I went to fulfill a couple of photo requests today but these plot numbers seem to be all over the place. Pretty sure I was in right spot but couldnt find them.
Thanks
