Hello,
I'm trying to find out who owned this property before Freud moved there in 1938. It was built in 1920, so there is a gap of 18 years. I've tried the National Archives, London Metropolitan Archive (who seem to have some records; unfortunately I am unable to travel in person to this archive). I'd be very grateful for any help with this search.
Best wishes,
Zoe Mathilde

Welcome to rootschat Zoe. I see you have also posted this request on the Beginners Board - it is generally recommended not to post duplicate requests.
I think here in the Common Room might be the best place for this question.
It's an interesting one. :)

Have you looked at the electoral registers?
I have locked your other topic to prevent duplication of effort.

Have you asked the museum?

In 1924 there is no one living there, nor at number 18.
Will keep looking, although the name of who was living there isn't necessarily the same as who owned the house of course.

There might have been people living there, chosing not to vote or being inelligible to vote.
Or in between voters as the registers were compiled.

I think an Alfred Henry GANE was there from ~1928-1933.

The 1938 PO Directory lists David Stuart Duncan at that address.
-
The 1934 PO Directory does not list an occupant at number 20.
-
David Stuart Duncan is listed as the occupant in the 1939 PO Directory too
