I can now sometimes go to Geelong as I have been visiting family down there a lot lately- will be down there every few weeks for the next couple of years.

I have just received a copy if a letter dated 18th December 1854 giving details of our great grandmothers death and burial in Melbourne. If it is possible to find and photo the grave we would be forever in your debt. The name is Sarah Hodgkins and possibly her baby Mary Ann Eugenie. The letter says Sarah is buried in Melbourne cement, 7 miles from Richmond in grave number 91. The intention was for a tombstone to be erected. Sarah died on 12th December 1854 and had been buried when her husband Frederick writes to break the news to her parents on 18th Dec.
Thank you so much. Margaret

You will need information on my post on Margaret's other thread. Anyone reading this may have difficulty locating her burial/headstone as there were two cemeteries in and near Melbourne in 1854 - Old Melbourne Cemetery [now under the Queen Victoria Market] and [New] Melbourne General Cemetery at Carlton.

Maybe she is buried under the market then Can do. Will try and make contact with the cemetery authorities as you previously suggested. Thanks.

Thank you Margaret and Cando for all the research - I had trouble opening the pdf but I have a map and I know the section is near the gate en route from church every Sunday. So won't be long before I can have a look. :)

The wonderful photos and story that went with them are now safely filed as the concluding pages of a very sad story. Thank you....two small words but expressing a depth of gratitude. Margaret

Hello and thank you in advance.
After many years I've finally located the death and burial location of my G Grandmothers young husband who died on 12 January 1902 and wondering if someone may be able to take a few photographs for me please.
His plot according to Findagrave (who had information wrong about him and I've notified) is MGC-WES-Comp-E-No-817. I did look up the cemetery database and he does not appear.
Have attached his death and funeral notices.
Regards and thanks again
