Hello, I'm wondering if any one could please help with any info? I'm looking into Peterson family, I have got Jesse Peterson born 04/04/1917 and died 19/02/2012, but can't seem to find out any other info? I know it should be out there but maybe as I'm still quite new to this I'm not looking in the right places etc, thought child's details or marriage should of been easy but can't see anything I know it was Alabama and now at a complete blank, any info I would be very grateful

Your Jesse served in WW11 as indicated by his gravestone?
If I have the correct man than he was single when he enlisted
Jesse Petersen born 1917 Home state Jefferson, Alabama
Enlisted Camp Shelby Mississippi 24 feb 1942Private
Educated to Grammar school level
Occupation - Semi-skilled miner and mining-machine operators
Single, without dependents
if this is the correct man then he seems to be in the 1920 US census (in Jefferson) age 2(plus some months), with his parents Mark and Mamie and brother Mark age 11 months.with his first name being recorded as Jessie. It pays to use wildcards when searching. eg Jess* which allows for different spellings. :)

The guy mentioned above in 1920 and the enlistment record was black. Does that fit your guy?
If it is the right guy, there appears to be a burial for his mother in this database: http://bpldb.bplonline.org/db/shadowlawn

Hello and thank you both for your replies, yes think it's the right man, can anyone point me in the right direction now please? Like marriage and children etc? Not sure how to check these things? Is it like the same way as you check for someone in the UK? Really unsure how to do these things in America
With thanks

on the right side of page, click on view document.

And now I'm getting confused with seeing so many names etc on his grave stone it says nita ( maybe short for Anita?) but need help with where to look as think I have tried most places but getting more and more confused! So if anyone could help I will be truely gratful

Hi Sheena:
A belated welcome to RootsChat.
Looking at his headstone, I don't see a reference to Nita. Perhaps I am not looking at the correct headstone; or, have you seen the back of the stone - perhaps the name is on the back? :-\
If Mr. Peterson had a spouse, she may not have passed away yet, as there appears to be no reference to another person buried in his plot.

(Note: If you type "Peterson" and click on "Go", there are only three results for this cemetery.)
Of course, she could have been buried elsewhere.

Hi Lisa and thank you for the welcome 😊 from the picture I can see it says his name and military and then says " ****will always love you, the backbone of the family" never thought that she may be still alive! As was thinking him being 94 was a good old age! Lol
Can you see a marriage anywhere or is it just me? With thanks Sheena

Hi Sheena:
Your eyes are much better than mine! ;) After enlarging the photo, I certainly can see the name. I saw words at the bottom, but originally thought it said "We will..." So much for assuming something, eh?
I will have a look around; perhaps we can find a reference to her. (She may be a daughter?) Since she may still be alive, it would be a good idea to remove her name from previous post(s), as we are not supposed to post anything about living people. ;)
-
Hi Lisa, thank you 😊 I will try and take the name out, not sure how to do it but will try 😊 never thought about a daughter etc just thought it would be wife 😆 see I'm no good at this stuff 😔
-
Hi Lisa, did you have any luck finding anything? I'm at a complete blank and have seen so many names lately that I'm going stir crazy with it all 😱
With thanks

If you're looking to contact his relatives directly, it's a recent enough death that maybe the funeral home would have the information as to the next of kin or might be willing to pass on a message for you.
-
did think of that, but thought it was maybe a bit disrespectful? never done anything like this and to be honest a silly scared to call really! :) will have to find out the different time zones! lol
-
Have called the funeral home and they are going to pass on a message, hopefully they do 😊 so excited that might get some info about Jesse Peterson
-
Still nothing at the moment :( so if anyone can still find any info out I would be very grateful ;)
-
Hi, still not heard anything which I'm not surprised at really, so if anyone can think of anything else or can try for a birth/marriage record or anything on them lines I would be very gratful, have tried but can't seem to find anything so I guess I'm not looking in the right place? 😔
-
Not everything is online, so sometimes there is nothing to find unless you know what state an event occurred in and can order a certificate from them. Most states do not have information recent births available to the public for privacy reasons.

Your pardon for jumping in here, but that would be "Tarrant" , just a few miles from my own residence. There's no such place as "Farrant" to the best of my knowledge.
