Title: Oliver HENDERSON (Hawick) & Isabel SINTON (Cavers) marr. 1808
Post by: LornaHen on Tuesday 28 July 15 13:04 BST (UK)
Can anyone expand upon my knowledge of this couple?
Sum total of my knowledge comes from their marriage entry in Cavers, Roxburghshire, which reads: "Oliver Henderson Hawick and Isabel Sinton in this parish 3 days"

Presumed to have died (or emigrated) prior to 1841.

Would love to
a) prove they are the parents of Adam HENDERSON born about 31 Jan 1814, Southdean, emigrated 1873 (with wife Janet EASTON and son George) settling in Alma, Jackson Co., Wisconsin where he died in 1892 (FamilySearch Tree ID L8JL-K31)
b) figure out how Isabel connects to the SINTON families of the area.

Thanks miriamkinga,
Yes, it is entirely possible that Isabel may have remarried - but I don't think Scottish records would show her as Isabella Henderson rather than Isabel(la) Sinton in subsequent events.
It looks from census data that the Isabella Henderson marrying Peter OLIVER was born around 1799, so a tad young to marry 1st in 1808.

My actual theory, completely speculative and only just on the border of possible, is that she is actually the Isabella SINTON who married Richard ROBSON.
Unfortunately this latter Isabella's 1869 dth cert makes no mention of any other marriage.

Wish I could find either of them in the MIs.  (Not indexed in Cavers)
