Hi everyone, I have come up again with another mystery and I'm hoping that you may be able to help me.
I'm looking for the any records of my Uncle. His name was Francis Edward DALEY, and was born in 1909 in Orbost, Victoria. He married my Aunt Florence Elizabeth PATTERSON around 1934 in Queensland, after this his trail goes cold. We believe that he was in the Army, but can't find his records or number. This couple had one son, Ernest....my cousin. He has never seen or known his Father or family, and I'm hoping with your help, I may be able to reunite them.
Would you be able to help me find any information, as I just can't seem to get a break.
Many thanks for your help in the past. Best wishes, Shirley.

The registration of the marriage is displayed at Qld BDM online.
Do you have a copy of that 1834 marriage? It will give you the information the groom supplied to the clergy about his parentage. That information may well help you to find HIM. I gather you can confirm that your Aunt is no longer living, as you have clearly identified her too.
The Qld bdm ref no. is C2581.

Do you have copy of the 1952 Qld death registration for an Edward Francis DALEY?

Hi, Yes Aunt Florence was my Aunt, and I have sent to Bmd, Qld for the full Marriage Certificate, to get his parents names. Yes we knew that Edward died early, that is why we have not been able to get much info. We thought that his Army records my be of help.
Kindest regards.

There's a submitted tree at Ancestry that has six children for your Aunt, including your cousin, by his given name and a brother by his name too. To me that is suggesting there's something amiss, as it is my understanding that the names of living people are not displayed at Ancestry. Perhaps you could contact that tree owner to see if they can advance your quest. They also have photos :)
Cheers, JM

Many thanks will look into the Ancestry. She only had two children, two boys! Very strange.

Edward Francis/Francis Edward was not enrolled to vote living at the same address as Florence Elizabeth DALEY in Qld.
He may have enlisted in WW2 and altered his year of birth. No ID was required when enlisting.

Hi,
Further to my last post, the WW2 file for QX3800, Edward DALY has been digitised on the National Archives Site.
Gerry
-
In brief, the digitised records for QX3800, Edward Daly show that he was single and canecutter when he enlisted in 1939 and initially there was no next of kin then this was changed to be his sister, Dora Eileen Richarson of Bombala.
After his discharge Edward corrected his date of birth on a rehabilitation form to 19th Sept 1906 at Orbost.

Many many thanks people, you have given me so much. Sorry I had to go "off line" yesterday and now will be back for about an hour.
I will now join Ancestry to look over my Aunts tree and try and sort out who belongs to it.
His Army details I will look into, as there seems to be a mystery about where he was, and what he did.
Again many thanks for all your help. Take care all. Best wishes to all, Shirley.

Hi Cinny 22 - (Shirley)
I believe we are related.
Edward Francis Daley was my grandmothers little brother and my mother's uncle Teddy.
My grandmother was Eileen Dora Daley (married name Richardson.) Your cousin Ernest was my mother's cousin Ernest named after his uncle (Edwards eldest brother.) I don't know if my mother and I can provide you with any new information but I am sending you this message because it's always exciting to find new relatives.
Kind regards,
Rose.
-
Hi Rose,
