Title: Rreid /Shanahan near Eglish
Post by: nkn on Sunday 02 August 15 18:41 BST (UK)
Hi.   This is my first posting on the Offaly board.

We've been looking for an elusive Reid/Shanahan family somewhere in Ireland and have found one potential in the Eglish area of Offaly.

Our only starting clues were:
*Parents:  James Reid and Mary Shanahan
*Daughters:   Anne (b.abt 1835+/-) and Mamie
Nothing further was known.  Info came from Anne's death certificate in Yonkers, NY and misc. family history.    Irish Townland and County sources were not known and have not been found thus far in US records.

Another Irish researcher, who knew I was looking for this family group, found this possible family in Eglish in Offaly:

Parents:  James Reid   and     Mary M Shanahan
The following children were baptized between 1831-1846:  John, James, Patrick, Mary and Bridget and we have those records.    While Mary could possible be the "Mamie", there isn't an Anne in the list.

Anyone else working on a Reid/Shanahan connection?

Thanks.
NKN      :)
