Does anyone recognise what it says at the bottom of the Residence column? I can't work it out and Googlemaps is no help. It's from the Castlecomer RC parish register.

Looks like Shannually? to me
What date is it please?

I can't see a g in it but could it be Shanganny mis-spelt

It's in 1855 if that helps. The residence for the first two children was Castlecomer itself, and for the four following this one it looks to be Aughamucky (the "Augh" is readable, the rest a bit of a scribble, but the penultimate letter is a tall one and the last one has a tail), but this one is stumping me. I can't see anything in the area which seems to fit the writing. I thought perhaps what looks like a "Sh" at the beginning might be an elaborate capital H, but that doesn't make a difference. I'm grasping at straws really.

Could it be "Ah" Ahan or Ahau something :-\

It's
Ahamucky

Oh cool :) The way the A is written looks different to the other entries I've seen, but I can see where you're coming from there. Do you know if Ahamucky is a different place, or just an alternate spelling for Aughamucky?

I was just about to say if you move further down the register there are better examples.
I lost the one I was going to post
