Post by: Laurie McB on Friday 18 September 15 20:01 BST (UK)
Looking for Ayrshire Residents with Surnames: Blair, and any spelling variation of the following surnames: McCreary/McCrorie, (Mc)Kinney,  (Mc)Taggart,  (Mac)Dougall,  (Mc)Lucas and (Mc)Williams

A group of us with the above surnames share a very unique and rare DNA signature. We have reason to believe that our common ancestor resided in Ayshire most likely in one of the following parishes: Girvan, Maybole, Ayr, Newton-Upon-Ayr, St. Quivox, Monkton and Prestwick and Dundonald.

Some of our ancestors then migrated to Down and Antrim in the early 17th century and from there to the U.S. and beyond.

We are seeking males with any of the above surnames whose known roots are in Ayrshire to join our DNA project at www.familytreedna.com. For any who are interested, please reply to this post so can make arrangements to correspond with you privately.

Thanks for your consideration.

Laurie

I don't understand the need 'to correspond with you privately'?.....

I would have thought the more open about the connections & referring to people in your ancestry with names/dates/places would help others to connect through google searching bringing them to your thread out of interest in their own ancestry?

Why hide it as that won't entice others who may not yet know of their connections until found on a google search?
