There used to be a box that popped up to tell you if you had a message, when did it disappear ?

Do you mean the one that notifies you of PMs? I've just tested it by sending myself a PM and I got an email notification but nothing on here under My Messages. I think it must be recent as I'm sure a number came up the other day.

Yes I get the e-mail notifications - no prob - just noticed that box doesn't pop up now to tell you there is a message. Maybe missing last couple of weeks - its probably having an affair with your missing smiley....................... ;D ;D ;D

Maybe you have disabled "Pop ups" and that stops them working?

Not sure that pop ups are the same thing are they? I haven't changed anything. Not working on either laptop or iPad.

No box - its just registering in the brown section - my messages 1

Thought it was just me, the box appears, then it is like Jack in the box, one minute you see me, the next you don't ;D

Message box still not appearing - messages show 1/2/3 etc in the brown band but it was nice to have that little box to tell you there was a message - ???

I did get a pop-up "You have received a new message" this morning when I logged in! ;D
PM was sent to me late yesterday evening.

Maybe it is going to be an overnight thing then KG, that is what I got for the one sent to me Tuesday which I saw Wednesday am ::) I have not opened the one I sent to myself so I'll see what happens in the morning ;D ;D

I've had overnight ones, day time ones and have never had that pop up message box for weeks :-\

Even tried to empty the message box in case I had to many in there ???

I did not get one for the message I sent to myself but I have just had one this morning for a message sent to me after I came off here last night. I don't log off.

Delighted that Trystan has waved his magic wand and the alert for the messages box is back again. ;) I really started to miss that little box, funny how we get used to these things.

It looks like this:

I just checked my profile and the show pop up option is ticked.
It seems to me that it refers to the "My Messages" box in the brown bar at the top, which lights up and displays a number pertaining to how many new Personal Messages have arrived. I click on it and it opens access to my inbox.
So maybe not strictly a pop up in the usual sense, but rather a light up! Unless there is a new personal message, the My Message box remains there, but unlit.

Yes-there really is a "Pop up Box".
"You have received one or more messages-would you like to read them now or later" or something like that. ;)

Yes, I get that as well, Maureen - in the middle of the screen. On the iPad it gives me the option to open up Personal Messages in a new tab, which is handy as I don't lose where I am on RC. On the laptop it opens in the same tab.

Yes, Jan - the same box we discussed way back in September. Trystan sorted it out for us on the 20 th October but it suddenly disappeared again a few days ago.
Perhaps someone could send me a few xxxx or hugs by pm and will see if it works today ;D lol ;D

Barring videos that automatically play, what could be more annoying than a pop up? All a matter of taste, I guess.
