Please can someone help to find the parents of:
Charles William Tyne (Thynne) b 1874 England d 1933 South Africa.
I married Frances Louisa Stevens b 1874 (?) d 1973 South Africa
The name could have been changed to Tyne when he came to South Africa, family scuttlebut says that it was but don't know how true that is......
I know it is not much to go on....... but here's hoping :-\

The only Charles Thynne or Tyne born in 1874 is this one
Births Mar 1874
Thynne Charles Alfred Holborn 1b 681
Did he marry in England?
ADDED : Don't think that is yours, he appears to have died in London in 1925.
-
Frances Louisa Stevens was born March quarter 1874 Malling, Kent.
-
Problem is it looks as if she married either William Finnis or George Pryor in Eastry, Kent in 1901. Could it have been a second marriage to Charles? Where did you get her name from?

The 1901 marriage for Frances was to George Albert Pryor. He died in Deal on 5 Feb 1933 - probate of the estate of over £8,000 was granted to Frances Louisa Pryor, widow.
Her possible death: Frances L Pryor aged 87, Mar qtr 1962 Dover.
-
So it looks as if we can rule her out, but she is the only one born in 1874.
How sure are you of the dates?
-
I see that there are Presbyterian baptisms at Cullinan Mines (South Africa)
in 1910 and 1912 respectively 1904-1915 for two five children of Charles William Tyne and Francis Louisa Stevens.
I can see a further two children of this couple (older, males) listed in an online tree - one of whose death reg shows a birthdate of 1899.
It would be helpful to know when & where the first of their children was born, and whether a marriage has been found for the couple.
I also note that there is a Scottish flavour to some of the children's given names, so I wonder how reliable the information is as to Charles having been born in England?

There is a Charles William Thynne age 10 born in Gloucestershire in the 1881 census
Apart from the father, all born Cheltenham. Do any of these names fit with Charles' children?

No match with the South African children - and this Charles ends up serving in WW1 in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, citing his mother in Tavistock as NOK. He may have died in Vancouver in 1955.
-
Thanks for all the replies, the problem is that Charles William popped up in each generation.
Here are his kids:
Elizabeth Ida 1904
Kathleen Charlotte 1910
Charles William Beecham 1912 (my grandfather)
Gordon Stanley ??
Evelyn Mathilda 1915
It seems as it the first child was born in 1904, no idea where but I assume South Africa.
-
Gordon Stanley was b 1899 according to an online source apparently derived from his death registration, though I do not know how reliable it is.
I was not naming the children in case any were still living, but in addition to your list there is one further daughter in the list of baptisms and one further son named in an online tree.
-
Yes, she was born South Africa
Elizabeth Ida Tyne
28 May 1904
Cullinan Premier Mine, South Africa
Father: Charles William
Mother: Francis Louisa Stevens
Denomination: Presbyterian

I have a birth for Frances Louise Stevens in Cape of Good Hope in 1875. on Family Search so he would have married her here, but when did he get here?
-
To be honest I cannot see anything very promising for him in passenger lists. What is the source for his having been born in England? Does the source say anything more precise than just England?
-
I have found another source (online tree) stating United Kingdom, don't know if that will help.
I'm quite dizzy with all this as the Charles William is a favourite each time I find one have to check the dates to see if it fits in with the Charles William I am looking for. There is one in each generation in the tree ???
-
I have found a CW Tyne on the Anglo Boer War source sited is QSA and KSA medal rolls but no further info. It could fit and explain how he got here outside regular passenger lists. He would have been around 25

Thanks for all the replies, I will have to try and get more info on him. :D
