Today I purchased a marriage cert from 1876,
For the moment im interested in the Ledwidge side.
The marriage took place in the Pro Cathedral on the 10-9-1876 between Teresa Ledwidge and Edward Poole (im researching Poole family).
The information given was Teresa and Edward were both 'Minor's',
Edward was a Housepainter, from Nerneys court, father Charles Poole Housepainter.
Teresa a dressmaker from 10 Marlborough St, her Father was William Ledwidge occupation 'Vocalist'..her mother I belive was Theresa Burke.
The witness's were John Flood and Margaret Ledwidge.
Nothing really out of the ordinary apart from the couple's age's and the occupation of The Brides Father, so i decided to have a closer look at 'William Ledwidge Vocalist', and what I found surprised me.
Im wondering would Teresa be a sibling of the famous Baritone Singer 'William Ludwig' (born William Ledwidge in Dublin 1847-1923)..whose father was a music teacher-Choirster- music copyist.?
It seems the family lived in the vicinity of Marlborough St as young William went to school there and then later to nearby O'Connell's CBS school.
Id be grateful if someone could either confirm or dismiss the family link of Teresa and William,im putting her in the apprx same age bracket as he was born 1847, her been a 'minor' when married in 1876 'may' have her born circa 1858-60.
It seem's that William Ludwig lead a fascinating full life and id be delighted to tie him in with my other family research.
Thank You.

Sorry Grizzly,
I've no access to English newspapers.
The only reference to his death was a friend in Ulster referring to his death.
The friend didn't know him THAT well, as he THINKS he was a native of Dublin.
No family members or the like were mentioned, just that he appears to have ended up his days with not much money as he was a charitable man.

Hi, yes you are correct about Teresa and Edward Poole.
I have read before that Teresa Ledwidge's father William was born in Westmeath but in fact he was the son of Francis Ledwidge a chandler, and Alice Wogan, both from Dublin. If you need further info - gouldingpeter@gmail.com
