Hello, I'm looking for info on the family(parents, siblings), of my 4x gr-grandfather, Michael Terry, he was born in Waterford County between 1795 and 1799. I have info that he left Ireland for Canada around 1830. He married Margaret Tierney , from Killkenny, Ireland, in Ireland
they had a son ,Patrick born in Ireland in 1824. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi There and Welcome
I'm afraid that very few records exist for that far back in Ireland.
To trace him you would need :
Father's Name
Mother's Name plus Maiden Name
EXACT townland that he was born in
It doesn't appear that you have any of this !
Have you tried death certs, obits and the like to get some more information ?

Welcome to Rootschat
There is a marriage in Portlaw, Co. Waterford on Feb 06 1823 of
Michael TERRY & Margaret TIERNEY (although mistranscribed on some sites I believe it reads Tierney)
LINK (http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632233#page/32/mode/1up)
the Witnesses were John POWER & Bridget WHELAN
It might be a trawl but a search through the catholic registers at www.nli.ie for baptisms might give family members. I did not see Patrick in 1823 but the handwriting is not great. I did find a John TERRY in Feb 1824 LINK (http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632234#page/117/mode/1up)
Hope this helps a little

Thanks all for your help, very much appreciated , wonderful information, will be doing a lot of follow up. Regards to all, Mary

To Myluck, Thank you for the help, according to census in Canada no John was mentioned, I'm wondering if that child died . Information I discovered say that Patrick was born in 1824 , which could be possible. Would you have a suggestion on where I could look for a death record (if one exists) for John? Regards, Mary

I know from researching my own family tree that Terry is a common name in the parish of Rathgormack in Co waterford. Parish records are also online on National Library of Ireland site
