Title: James McClellan AVERY c 1804
Post by: NormanE on Saturday 17 October 15 12:20 BST (UK)
I have manage to follow James McClellan Avery c 1804 (A man of many parts) through his lifetime.
There is a hint about his roots in Familysearch at his 1804 baptism at Wartling Sussex  (parents Robert and Elan).
Please can anyone help me trace James's roots possibly helped by the McClellan link?
Regards
NormanE

It looks as though he had a sister Eleanor christened 1802 Wartling mothers name given as Eleanor
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N2M4-SX4

In 1851 there is a Robert Avery bn Wartling age 74 a retired farmer living Pevensey
H0107/ 1637  f12  p   16

In 1841 H0107/1117 f10 p12 also at Pevensey
Robert Avery age 63 bn in County
Hellen Avery 70 born Scotland

McLellan is probably Hellen/Eleanors maiden name

I am so excited to find out where the McClellan came from in my family history - we hadn't been able to find the link and within minutes of finding  and registering on this site it appears someone has found the link for me!

I don't know which line you are following but I am a great grandchild of Phyllis McClellan Avery.

Thanks for any other info I can get or indeed offer in return if required.
