Hello, I have posted on here before, and found a lot of help....I would like to find info on William Gent from Terrington St Clements in1796 when he married Mary Bates, Where did he come from? Any info on Gents who farmed in this neck of the woods would be lovely.
  Thanks Carol.

I think 1841 census William Ghent (spellt as Ghent on image)'s occupation is "Brick M" = Brick Maker??

William age 6 is given the occupation of "Brick Layer" - which possibly should have been the occupation of  the 2 19 year olds at the same address

the other Gent/Ghent found in 1841 Harpley is
John Gent 38 Brick M
Mary Ann 30
both born in Norfolk

Harpley is c. 18miles from Terrington St Clements

The Gent family in Harpley is William Gent who married Mary Miles 24 February 1800.
Possibly a relative of some sort as the villages are close together but not the ones Carol Gent is looking for.

William Gent marries Mary Bates 10 March 1796 at Terrington St Clements both single and otp. Witnesses were Elizabeth Bates and John Ockley
Children baptized at Terrington St Clements
John bap 7 October 1798
Frances bap 25 July 1802 (female)
William bap 15 April 1804

Possible burial for William 30 July 1803 age 32 married man, this would put his birth date at circa 1771

If the death of William is the correct one, there is a baptism at Tilney St Lawrence 27 June 1771 for William Gent son of William and "R" Gent.

Mary Bates could be the daughter of John and Jane Bates baptized 28 Decemeber 1775 Terrington.
John Bates married Jane Latham 22 October 1771 at Terrington St Clements.

Hello, I am having trouble in replying to suzard, thanks for your reply, but they are not my Gents.
And thanks to amondg, yes they are mine.I cannot believe how many Gents there are, especially as they are all called William! .Please accept my apologies in replying this way if it is wrong.I have just started using this technology and finding it very hard and confusing,it would be a lot easier over a coffee!
Many thanks Carol
