I'm sorry to ask an obvious question which I'm sure has been answered........have FindMyPast/TNA checked dates of death or have they just imposed a blanket closure on all those born 1915+ ?

My dad was born in 1922 and died in 1972 but his record appears to be closed (if he is indeed one of the 3 living with my grandmother).

So I would need to submit death cert to unlock it?

I know this has been asked before but there has been so much information I've got confused.   ::)

Hi roopat

You would be better off asking FindMyPast. You can do a live chat at the bottom of the screen here (with computer & keyboard)

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/help/contact

if you don't want to email them.

Thought I had answered before.
The second page (not open to the paublic) carried a "D" mark against those people who had died.
This detail was given to FindMyPast as the basis to open redacted entires, if the entrie was not marked with a "D" the entry would remain redacted.
Cheers
Guy

A little help please, I was b.1937 in Jessops Hospital , Sheffield, my birth cert says, The Victoria Inn, Victoria,
The address when i grew up was, The Victoria Inn, Victoria, nr Hepworth, Huddersfield, West Riding, Yorkshire, note no street or road.
In 1937 my grandfather John Edward Bacon, b. 1882, Keighley, was the landlord of the Victoria Inn, how do i find out who was in the pub in 1939 ?.

Could this be it  :-\

Bull & Mouth Hotel Victoria Inn   Victoria Street
Huddersfield C.B.
Ref: RG101/3412E/012/42  (Robert Wilson born c1890 plus 2 and 3 who are closed)

OR

Bull & Mouth Hotel,   Victoria Street
Huddersfield C.B.
Ref: RG101/3412E/012/36   (James E Berwick bn c1895 plus 2)

As you asked how to find it (If I have the right one)
I used Address search and in BOROUGH / DISTRICT I put Huddersfield C.B. option
IN STREET I just put Victoria
There were a few options but the record was under Victoria Street (page 5)

All of this came from the free search
