Hello , is it possible to find a person that may have been in prison at the time of the 1901 census ? I would be very interested to search for them
Regards
Alan

They should show up if they are in prison. They may only be mentioned by initials, age and place of birth though.

If you are on Ancestry you can go to the Search screen for 1901 and put Prisoner in the Keyword Box. I did this and it brings up 14,664 results for England. There is only one with an inital.

Thank you both , not sure if I did it right but nothing obvious appeared when I put in Mary Ann Channing , birth circa 1843 , she was living in Exeter on 1891 census .

Is Channing her maiden name?
There is one in Exeter in 1891 born knowstone wife of William with son William Evans which suggests she may have been married before?

Hi Jennifer , yes thats the one I am looking for , her maiden name was in fact Burnett prior to Evans and Channing
Thank you

Hi Alan,
Were you hoping to find Mary A Channing on the 1901?
There is a death record of a Mary A Channing aged 54-
q1 1900 Exeter
Vol 5b Page 82
The above could very well be the Mary A Channing from the 1891 previously posted.
