Title: Marriage-Annie Constance Graham-1913 Dingle
Post by: Suemagoo on Tuesday 17 November 15 21:24 GMT (UK)
I am researching my ancestors and I was told my GG Grandfather , James Graham was a Police constable who was stationed in Dingle, Co. Kerry and his wife Rosalie Graham was the local midwife and delivered a lot of babies as well having 13 of her own.
I am trying to find out details of one of their children Annie Constance Graham, who in 1911 was a second housemaid in a home in Ahascragh, Gallway, then returned to Dingle in 1913 to marry. Is there anyway I can find out who she married and then try and find out what happened to her and her husband? Any help or direction to further my inquiries would be greatly appreciated. :)

Any other children won't show on that site after 1915.
It's Carlow but sure looks like them with the Annie's mother's name used.

There is a William John in 1916 also in Carlow but no mother's surname on FamilySearch, a couple other possibilities in other parts of the country.

I guess it depends on his job.

Oh he is the butler in the same house as Annie in 1911

My most sincere thank you!! This is most helpful in discovering what happened to Annie and her family. Her meeting David the butler in a large home with many servants reminds me of Downton Abbey.

There the similarity ends, getting married more than likely meant losing their jobs, so a move to Carlow could be explained that way.

My grand uncle also a butler was married in secret for three years to one of the maids, even his parents or siblings didn't know until after he died. He and his wife worked for a family still remember for their good treatment of tenants and staff, they even got him his own grave and a lovely headstone, but still the couple clearly felt they couldn't tell.

What a interesting story about your relatives!! It is exciting to find out dates of birth, marriage and death and if you are lucky to find where your ancestors were laid to rest to me is the ultimate goal. I was in Dingle this summer with a bus tour travelling around the south west of Ireland, which I loved. When we got to Dingle I wanted to try and get to the Church of Ireland cemetery and see if I could find another sibling of Annie, who died at age 5 from diphtheria, but we weren't given enough time so I was so disappointed and sad that I got so close, coming from Canada, but couldn't find her. I really wanted to visit her grave and pay my respects but it wasn't meant to be. I wish I could find out more stories about what happened to ancestors, but I'm not experienced enough to know where and what to look for.  Thanks again for you help. You are all lovely, kind people.  Loved Co. Kerry!!! Absolutely beautiful. Regards, Susan

James Graham was also my great grandfather who was in the RUC.  My grandmother Phyllis immigrated to Montreal. Her brother had come over for visit. The whole family is on the 1911 census
