I have this baptism from the Morland PR's
1742 Dec. 27 John s. of John KENDAL & Mary his wfe of Harlow
Does anyone know where Harlow is?
Is it his wife from Harlow or is John Kendal from Harlow.
Any ideas please.

If the entry reads as you have posted it I would think that at the time of the baptism the family's abode was Harlow.

Warncoort this link is only going to the first page of Genuki, have you found a reference to Harlow on it's pages as I can't see one. :-\

Morland is in Cumbria, and Harlow in East Essex.

There's a Harlow Hill in Northumberland

Thank you for the replies.
Should have said Morland Westmorland (Cumbria as it is now)
Think in this instance Harlow may be a farm as I don't recognize it as the name of a village around there. However I may be wrong!

I know Morland pretty well and don't know of any Harlows. It's certainly not a village in the area but, as you say, could once have been the name of a farm or house.

I was brought up fairly near there but couldn't place it either.

Just had a thought.
Wonder if Harlow has been transcribed incorrectly.
My Kendals were from a farm called 'Hesley' (Near Morland). This was often written as Hasley.
I think I shall have to look at the original records to see if Harlow could be Hesley or Hasley.
I have looked at old maps and can not find Harlow or anything like it.
