I know that there are a few members who are not receiving their RootsChat Notifications via talktalk.
One Customer contacted them directly for help and was told that it would have to be RootsChat that made contact with them. I spoke to them yesterday and was told that the problem would be resolved with a few hours. This morning I contacted them again and this time was told that they could not discuss the problem with us because we did not have a talktalk account. Each person who is having problems must contact them directly.....
If anyone is having problems with notifications please send me a little pm

hmmmmm....
Not with talk-talk myself but son is - I sent him an e-mail on Sunday at 11.15 am and was told Sunday evening he had not received any e-mails on Sunday - yesterday he got 10 all sent after 11.15 on Sunday :(

I'm battling with TalkTalk after a 10 day spell of serious problems with emails; sending and receiving. One email sent on a Friday to my daughter arrived on the following Tuesday. ::)
That problem appears to have been resolved but now I have an avalanche of junk mail and no notifications from RootsChat. I altered my profile settlings to use another address and......notifications from RootsChat arrived without problem. So the problem (as I knew it would be) is with TalkTalk but they seem unable to deal with it. >:(

Hi Jan,
I am sorry this is going on for so long..
I am waiting to try again with them (all operators busy at moment), I am thinking that if I keep trying I may find a more helpful assistant. I have a list of emails from talktalk members that seem to have been affected since around the 19th Nov.
Here is a link to their help

As a long suffering TalkTalk customer in my experience they don't appear to have any of those !

You're lucky ::) Several of mine have vanished into cyberspace, including test emails I sent to myself ::)

Finally got through to Sangam...
He said that the problem has been passed on the the Fault Management Network Team who have said they will resolve the problem in 24 hours.
I asked was there an incident number I could give talktalk if I wished to follow up on the problem if it had not been resolved, they said they could not tell me due to data protection. If I wished for news on the problem I need to ask Nanny Jan..
Sarah
-
Oh dear.......I have been keeping the Fault Management Network Team busy......well those that have been reporting it have been busy.
To add insult to injury.....they've just taken their usual bill payment today. >:(

This is a known problem which has been going on for some time; they have been promising to resolve it for ages.

Another 30+ minute online chat which got nowhere apart from a request for me to telephone (again) another number.
Chocolate teapot........at least I could eat that! ;D

Mini update:
TalkTalk have just telephoned me! I talked through the whole sorry saga (again) and was told that the problem was being escalated (yet again) and that I should hear back from them within 48-72 hours. Hmmm....let's wait and see!

I lead a very sheltered life with no Customer Disservice People in it.
I have no cable TV. No cell phone that I need to speak to a CDP. I go into T-Mobile’s local shop to renew my prepaid minutes once a year. No debt. Receive my monthly statement from NatWest in the post as their logging is too complex for me. Lost my credit card a few weeks ago. Spoke to an extremely efficient computer and it replaced the credit card. No subscriptions to any company so I do not have to worry about automatic renewing. If I had to fly anywhere I can go to the airport and buy a ticket there for a date in the future. Life is great even if is rather boring.
-
You sound a relaxed type of guy Barry...
Just contacted talk talk again, different person slightly better response but still quoting 48-72 hours...at least (they say) have linked our complaints together so they have the extra information that we have just given them.
Hope you are having a Happy Birthday Jan ;) We would normally send you a birthday greeting but you know how things are ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I have told them several times about others with the same problem....it sounds as though, perhaps, the message is getting through.
Thank you for the birthday greetings; it's been a bit unusual but not as bad as when my parents moved house on the day, birthday cards going to both addresses.......... ;D
-
And a Happy Birthday Nanny Jan from me also hope the problem is resolved soon with TalkTalk ???
Rosie

Happy Birthday from me too
Down in Plymouth for my grandsons passing out parade
Just tell T/T your going somewhere else
I did at the finish
Elisabeth
-
Thank you Rosie and Elisabeth; hope all goes well for your grandson's passing out parade.....I guess you're very proud of him. ;)
I will be researching another provider in the new year but will be looking carefully at contracts as I am planning to move house and don't want even more problems!
-
Happy Birthday from me too .... I have no understanding of Talk Talk (perhaps it is around in NSW Australia, but I have simply not needed it or not been offered it etc) but I can well understand how disturbing it is when speaking with call centre operators and they seem to have no hands on experience or training to consider that the issues being raised are genuine concerns.
It is not just being annoyed by the actual delays on the day, and it is not just the realisation that the next generation simply don't understand that you are being significantly inconvenienced by their business model's failings.... It is simply that the flaws are adversely affecting your own day to day activities and you are expecting them to a) want to know of their failure to deliver and b) want to give them the opportunity to fix their failures.
But, Happy Birthday from New South Wales, Australia. May you have many more. It will be 366 days before your next one. :) :)
Cheers, JM

Oh ! and I thought it was me.
I sent an email yesterday to a good friend --same email address as usual but it could not be delivered. What came up was another address made up of the same but in a very different order , that got delivered but tonight my friend said her email address had not been altered.
I too am not getting notification about RootsChat messages etc.
I always suspect it is me as I am a nerd with computers really butbthis time it seems it is talktalk.
Viktoria.

Please contact TalkTalk and let them know; the more people complaining the better! :D

Facebook member? Tell them here . . . . .

[ Sarah, Why not publicly tell them that they are blocking your "Rootschat" mail? They appear to have over 250k people to publish your problems to. ]

Just to add, I email a rellie in Scotland who is with talktalk, my emails keep getting returned to me, as it says its not excepting my email addy, as we are in touch all the time I have to keep changing the subject line for it to get through as after about 3 emails..it bounces back to me.
Not sure if this is of any help in any way.
Cheers

If any member is having problems it is very worthwhile you getting intouch with Talktalk, the more that complain the better. As RootsChat does not have a talktalk email/service we are not their customer. We have discussed what we think the problem is and what they need to do to resolve the problem we just don't know why it is taking so long.
Yonks I am not sure what your problem but it could be any of the following..
Your rellie may have a lot of old emails sitting in their inbox, talktalk may have a limited of data per user if this happens you may get a message back saying inbox full.
Try and make you heading very descriptive and try not to use "spammy" words like "free" "cheap" maybe the title looks like spam and this is why they are returning them to you.
You should also ask your rellie to make sure that they add you as a "safe sender", if they haven't everytime there is a security update the service provider may question emails from senders not on the "approved list" sometimes you may see emails labelled with (spam?) these you need to check.

Talktalk email sems to be in meltdown at the moment. I started getting upwards of 30 spams a day a few months ago (which filters would not stop) and decided to change to another supplier. I've kept an eye on the account so I don't miss anyone who doesn't know of my change. The spams are now up to 60-70 a day and putting them in junk or trash doesn't help - they turn up again in a few minutes. I'd advise anyone affected in the same way to complain to Talktalk and then leave

I too will have to notify Talk Talk about not receiving email notifications, as I have not received notification emails today, but from past experience of their customer service I'm doubtful as to what they will do about it. Reading this post makes me wonder about emails I have not received and some arriving late over the past few months. I would change, but I need to wait until the end of my contract to avoid a cancellation fee.

Had a good nights sleep and have woken up to the conclusion that if every customer of Talk Talk, Walk Walked and went to some other provider that that might wake them up. There is no excuse for customer disservice. Sadly many companies use it as their business model.
There is that American example of the Customer "Service" incident that kept a customer hanging on for hours (toll free) and then left for the night with him still hanging on.
-
I had a text message from them with the option to reply Fixed or Not Fixed. I was on my way to have lunch with my sister so they had to wait for my Not Fixed response. Now I've had another text message to call them using a mobile phone...........again. >:(
I will not be beaten on this!
-
Yet another phone call......this time I was told I did not have to use my ancient, unreliable mobile to call them. ::)
Same old story, same old patter.........this has been "escalated" so many times it should be up there with the International Space Station. :D
So, fellow sufferers,.........make sure you are sitting comfortably and get on the phone/"live chat" to TalkTalk......we need to keep telling them!
-
This is getting silly......another phone call from TalkTalk, this time on my mobile....usual patter with the additon of a request to "keep the line open" so that they can get in touch with me. ::)
Anyone else getting a similar response?

Talk Talk are going mad or else its my computer. I searched for a way to contact them re the Rootschat notifications i.e. by email, and discovered that I had to phone or chat. I refuse to phone as every time I have done this in the past it has cost me a small fortune and their chat lines were busy. I then found their forum and discovered that Tiscali email accounts and Windows10 don't work -glad I haven't upgraded. I have just checked my emails to discover that I am receiving copies of all my emails starting from the last one I received this morning and they are still downloading. Where are they all coming from? I have all my emails redirected to Windows Live Mail and I checked that there were none sitting in my Talk Talk webmail. Most of these emails have been read and deleted. They are still downloading, the beginning of November has been reached. Help!!!
Tofgem
-
This is ridiculous. It is still downloading unopened copies of my emails and has reached June.
Tofgem
-
I have just deleted 706 emails manually plus whatever was in the spam folder. I received unopened copies of every email received back to 28th May. This was only for one email address. I have two. I really will have to contact TalkTalk.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem was/is?

I give up they keep saying the problem is with rootschat :D The person I spoke to asked me for my password for my e-mail address ..I told him I was not prepared to give him my password so he told me he could not help me ???

I was also told that the problem was with RootsChat; I changed my address to my back-up one and RootsChat mail arrived without any problems.
I've not been asked for my password............yet......maybe that is next on the list. ::)

Thunderbird states that it is downloading 1 of 855 messages on a tiscali address.
I has been stating that since 6pm.
I am one of those whom they migrated to Fleur telecom.
Talk talk will not talk to me as I am no longer a customer.
Fleur telecom say it is not their problem and suggested that I changed to hotmail instead.
I am a bit annoyed as I was not consulted whether I wanted to be migrated or would prefer to choose a new ISP myself.
-
I am surprised that no-one has (said that they have) checked this before, so,
having checked the most common mail spam blacklists for Rootschat.com. . . . . .
Surprise? Rootschat.com does NOT appear!
I (also) get all/any messages emanating from the Rootschat forums.
[ but then I run/control my own mail server(s) ]
( Without an explicit&full audit ) Rootschat would appear to be clean/clear of a spam reputation.
Rootschat appears to be . . . . .

The problem is with talktalk not with RootsChat, we have been very careful to achieve our good standing with emails and they are checked to make sure that they are correctly delivered.
It is talktalk that are blocking our emails - we are awaiting for talktalk to "whitelist" (this is the correct term) and have sent them sample emails with all our server details etc.

Hi AnnaS,

There is currently a major problem with talktalk/tiscali.
Hundreds of customers, many with the old tiscali email address, are not receiving emails. They seem to be disappearing into a black hole. I have made purchases on ebay for which I've received no email notifications at all. I have sent myself 'test' emails and none have arrived. The problem is having a major impact on people who are running businesses.
See their 'email forum' here http://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/My-Email/bd-p/myemail

Don't be fooled - it has been there for a couple of weeks ::)

I emailed a client of mine with a Tiscali address on Thursday. On Saturday I had the response "Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server."

Hi All,
Sorry to read all about your email problems with TalkTalk, I had a look in "The Register" a good source of Network problems, and Lo and Behold, an email problem with TalkTalk,
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/11/23/talktalk_business_email_outage/ (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/11/23/talktalk_business_email_outage/)
Hope this problem gets solved soon, and that you all get chance to change to a nice new company that values you.
Tom
PS - "We asked the telco how many customers had been affected by the outage. Just a "handful", we were told. ®" Methinks they have rather large hands!

After a very long wait...............an email from Rootschat. ;D ;D
I had sent a letter of complaint to TalkTalk this morning.........

"The problem is having a major impact on people who are running businesses"
What?
Not only is it very cheap to set up your own business mail server using your business domain name, the cost is also a valid tax/VAT offset.
Methinks that businesses set up like that do not look like professional outfits.
As the guy selling business cards says . . . . . " "
Yourname@Yourbusinessdomainname.???
is much more professional than Yourname@Tiscali.??? or Giveupallhope@TlakTlak.moc
and does not look shoddy.
Ray

I have a couple of Gmail accounts, and have never had any problems logging on, or sending or receiving emails. It is also free.

Ray,
Businesses that are using talktalk email addresses may be smaller one/two person businesses that don't have the technical knowhow to set up a mail server. They may own a domain name, and simply automatically forward incoming emails to their talktalk email address.
The very big problem is that businesses who are sending transactional emails to TalkTalk customers are not getting through. So they're losing these customers.
We're losing potential new RootsChat members who are signing up as new members. As they are not getting their activation emails (and login details) then their registration fails. RootsChat members are missing out because we're not getting new replies that that talktalk customers would otherwise post.

I don't know how to go about actually DOING what I am about to suggest, but someone here at RootsChat will know....
Get one of those electronic petition thingys up from all of us current members ..... including ones like me, 'foreigners' in a geographical sense .... We want our fellow members and potential members to know that the flaw is not RootsChat's making, and that there's positive action underway to fix it once and for all time.
Cheers, JM (in NSW, Australia, and with no idea of what TalkTalk is ;D ::) :) )
-
Hmmm
I actually replied to Trystan's post, but it seems not to have arrived.
Ray
Is there a "smiley" of a wry smile?

I have Roots in my favourites and just come in through this way
Not receiving direct mail and I am with BT and Yahoo
In Yahoo I clicked on the this is not scam but it still does not allow roots through
Elizabeth

I did try to reply to Trystan earlier this week . . . . .
"The very big problem is that businesses who are sending transactional emails to TalkTalk customers are not getting through. So they're losing these customers. "
No different to Rootschat being erroneously being spam-listed publicly ("RBL")
or "internally" (ie Talk-talk server)

RootsChat members are missing out because we're not getting new replies that that talktalk customers would otherwise post.
see above (for the origins of the problem ie being flagged as spam)
Above problems all Talk-Talk based
[ I have yet to find Rootschat listed in any blocklist ("RBL") as at today ]
AND
not related to my reply about professional-looking email addresses.
Ray
-
Yes clearly the problem was a talktalk one. However the extended email diagnostics found that the emails were not marked/flagged as spam. So this was not the origin of the problem. They had another configuration issue.
-
Hi Aspin,
I am going to send you a private message asking for you to confirm your email address as your settings look different to what you have described... The email address you have used to register with RootsChat looks to be working ok.
The problems with talktalk look to have finally have been resolved at their end- thanks to Nanny Jan "bashing their heads together" all talktalk users now look to be receiving all their RootsChat emails yeay finally after 4 weeks.

Mails popping through OK now Sarah thanks
