Title: Looking for John Wain in 1841 & 1851 census
Post by: Westy11 on Wednesday 23 December 15 02:59 GMT (UK)
John Wain was born 4 Oct 1787 Market Bosworth & died 1870 in the Union Workhouse. He married Catherine Robinson in 1812 Twycross. Catherine was born abt 1791 possibly Twycross?

Their children born in Twycross were Thomas [b 1814], John [abt 1816], Jane [1819], Charles [1821], Elizabeth [1823], Joseph [abt 1826] & George [abt 1829].

John snr was a labourer.

I am unable to locate him and or his family in 1841 & 1851 census.  The 1861 census he is in Union Workhouse, a widower aged 76.

I am hoping to narrow down the dates for Catherine's death plus get some idea of where she was born and about what year as well as locate the family in the 2 census records.

So if him did he re-marry?

Maybe not as in 1851 there are 2 John Wain's in Market Bosworth, one with Mary b Osbaston, and another aged 61 b Market Bosworth Widower occ Labourer b Market Bosworth?

Hello Keyboard,

The 2nd one seems the best fit "aged 61 b Market Bosworth Widower occ Labourer b Market Bosworth".

Would you be able to paste the link at all???

Hi again, the John Wain aged 76 in The Union Workhouse in 1861 states b Basworth/Bosworth, that is a 5 year difference from the 1851 example?

Census Ref RG09/2263/23b/5
