Hi all,,can anyone advise if there is a BMD site for Jersey ?
I am looking for a death of Ada Florence Sinclair.
Any ideas where i can look ? :)
TIA
-
It depends when she died. If it was after 1842 then it's a case of physically searching the death and/or burial records which is only possible in Jersey. If it was before 1842 then her burial should be recorded in the parish records - on line at www.jerseyheritage.org - although it will be in the subscription/pay per view part of the site.
There are many Sinclairs listed on the Archive site, was this her maiden or married name? I ask because for the purposes of legal records the maiden name has higher priority than the married name in Jersey.

hi,thank you for that info,it would have been a lot later than that..
she was Ada Florence Sampson
had a child in 1927,who was .. (Winifred Rita Sinclair)
So,i assume she married, the father of her daughter ??,who was Walter Herbert Sinclair
But with records so sketchy, its hard to define ?
thanks for any help.

I'll see if I can find out anything for you but in won't be until the New Year, the Archive closes tomorrow (today) until then.
-
Oh brilliant,,thank you :D

I've just been having a look at the Archive website and it seems as if Ada had died before 1941. Walter and Winifred both have Occupation registration cards (with photos) and Walter's status is given as widower.
-
ahh, thank you,i was never sure if she had died or just left ?
as Winifred was the only child....i wonder if Ada died from childbirth complications ?
she must have died since the birth of Winifred (1927) and registration cards issue (1941)
thanks for all your help.

No point in looking at Jerripedia, there are no useful records beyond 1842, a lot of the trees are suspect and there are lots of mistakes in the pre 1842 parish records when compared with the genuine ones on the Jersey Archive site. The articles that they have reproduced from other sources are quite interesting tho'.

yes,i am looking now,,but most before the "more recent" past,i am looking for.
But having a browse anyway. :)

A few records from Jersey are now on FreeReg. [Just my luck: the few I'd like to see aren't there yet!]

Let me know which ones you need and I can have a look.
