Hi
I decided this NYE to have a poke around the Hughes family line.
I am stuck at Lewis Hughes born between 1835-1844 Llangollen Denbighshire who married Mary Jones (born Llangollen Denbighshire died 1895 Merthyr Tydfil) possibly around 1858.
I only have them in the 1871 living at 63 Hall St Llangollen with children Jane, Elizabeth Ann (MINE), Catherine, Edward and Thomas Richard.
I haven't been able to find them in any other Census. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks :D

The Denbighshire records are on FindMyPast and it looks likely he is listed.
LEWIS HUGHES Born 1842 Thomas Elizabeth LLANGOLLEN
HUGHES LEWIS GRO 1863 marriages Wrexham, Denbighshire
LEWIS HUGHES Born 1840 & Mary Jones 1863 Marriages Ruabon, Denbighshire
Sadly my membership has expired.

Hi Colin!
Thank you that is FABULOUS.
I haven't made it to FindMyPast yet this evening.
This family seem to be my first ridgy-didge Welsh family.
My Elizabeth married a wannabe-welsh Templeman family.
My Great Grandmother's name was Tryphena which I've always said is welsh.
(I have her russet hair too).
I've been to Wales (well across the bridge and around the city) but really have no idea of the layout. Such a long way to here in Australia.
I'm trying to find some online cemeteries to see if there are any Hughes family buried anywhere there in Denbighshire.
thank you again!

Burial records are also on FindMyPast for the county.

Tried to reply to your Dusty Docs. memo but I think it went into space.
If you want burials before 1837 try FindMyPast.

Hi and a happy new year from Wales. I found the marriage of Lewis and Mary in Ruabon in 1863. Lewis father was Thomas and Mary's was Edward. I have attempted to attach a photo of the marriage cert. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Fabulous Mike. Thank you so very much. Lewis was a Lawyer? It also has a Mary ann Hughes as a Witness. Maybe she is a sister?

My apologies for being late in responding but I've been without wifi. The 163 marriage was not at Ruabon but in the neighbouring Parish of Rhosymedre. The Rhosymedre Parish(Marriages) Booklet which I have states that the marriage took place on 288/11/1863.Lewis residing at Bryn-yr-Owen and aged 23 and Mary being 26 and of the Llangollen Parish.Father's are as have been stated on here.

William Russell Jones.
