I have searched for the birth and marriage of Robert Sykes for some time, in 1799 his son Mathew Sykes was born in Barnsley , mother Mary, he also had another son William and a daughter Nancy, then in 1808 he wed Sarah Harrison at Silkstone , he died Oct 1837 age 70., BUT I was told he was born in Derbyshire, I have searched Ancestry, but cannot find a Robert Sykes that fits, and I cannot find a marriage either.
I have no prove that he was born in Derbyshire other than some one in the family has a bible with this information. But I can see the bible

thank you , all the dates are perfect, I just wish I could have seen the bible.
Francis doesn't seem to be a family name . I have all the information on Robert, from about 1784, when he was a witness for a marriage, he could write his own name, so he was living in Barnsley at that time.

thank you , does any one have a name in their family that's isn't carried on, I have searched for a Francis Sykes through the family tree, but this is the first time it has cropped up
