Post by: ibbotson on Monday 11 January 16 14:10 GMT (UK)
Could anyone possibly assist with the service record for my grandfather born Milton Kent 1888...I have just found a photo showing him in uniform with details on back as follows.

Gunner, William Robert Chapman, service no 153531. Royal Garrison Artillary

Not able to find his service record, but, the Medal Rolls Index Cards show his rank as Gnr (Gunner) and confirms the details you have for regiment and regimental number.  He received the Victory Medal and the British Medal, but, not the Star; which suggests that he was not involved at the early part of the war.

Above details available to download from National Archives.  Link:  http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/Details?uri=D1766577
