Can anyone help me please with the parents of Henry Hendry? He was born in New Houghton, Norfolk, in approximately 1826. He then became a shepherd and married Martha Alflatt in 1858. Any help much appreciated!

Hi
Welcome to rootschat :)
The GRO index for the marriage gives his name as Henry Thomas Hendry. The certificate should give details of his father

Freereg has some New Houghton transcripts. http://freereg2.freereg.org.uk/
There is a Henry (no middle name) bapt 1823 parents Thomas & Charlotte. It was not unknown for a person to add names to their own :-\

I think you are right about getting the marriage certificate to see what it says about the father as I found several baptisms in both New Houghton and Watton

Many thanks for all your help. I have applied for the marriage certificate which should provide at least his fathers name.

The first born child was Charlotte Elizabeth Hendry (11 Dec 1858 - baptism 17 July 1859 - Wimbotsham Parish, Norfolk - father Henry Thomas Hendry and Mother Martha Allflatt (as transcribed Norfolk Bishops Transcripts) - perhaps that's a clue that these are the correct parents - names after her grandmother ???
