I am trying to find the date of birth and death for James Anderson who was married to Catherine Oliver.
They had at least six children.
Topics merged and edited with correct date , see below for children.

If you say that they had several children , then - if you know some/all of the names and the ages / sequence, then you may well be able to find them, and through them, the details you want. Scottish certificates seem to be a lot more help than English ones.

Trying to track down the date of birth and date of death for James Anderson.
I believe that the couple had six children
Agnes Anderson - 23/02/1869
George Anderson - 03/08/1855
George Anderson - 03/07/1866
Margaret Anderson - born 1866
Andrew Anderson 10/03/1861
Janet Anderson 17/02/1864

There is a death for a CATHREINE Anderson(other surname Oliver) 1883 Hawick Roxburgh , born c1828.
If that is the correct one it should tell you if James was still alive and help narrow down your search.

A check of last time together on a census will narrow things too if James died prior to Catherine.

Going by the census reports James Anderson's, age varies 1851. aged 22 years 1861 age 34 years, 1881 census 56 years.
If one goes by the variations then what is his actual age.
There are several James Anderson's, on the 1881 census variation 1825. plus 5 years either way in Roxburgh, however only one with wife Catherine. Thats in Wilton, Roxburgh.
There are three deaths on Scotlandspeople, age range 1825. 5years either way.
However there is one death for a James Anderson, aged 52 years 1881. Wilton, Roxburgh.
My suggestion is get the death for Catherine Anderson Oliver, that Eve, posted earlier, and see if James Anderson, is deceased by 1883. if that is the case then it would seem certain that the death for James Anderson, aged 52 years Wilton, Roxburgh, 1881. is your mam.
Regards,
Jonn.

The 1891 Census has a James Anderson 65 born Selkirk , Co Selkirk , frame work knitter , father in law to a Dougal family , the wife(his daughter ?) is Elizabeth Dougal age 40 , all living Hawick , Roxburghshire.

It looks like James Anderson died after the 1891 Census :-\

Thank you for all your replies, I have already traced James to 1891 census living with his daughter. His daughter moved to Selkirk. In 1901 census no James. He was also on the marriage for his son George on 22/02/1895.
Still trying to trace James date of death and his parents details

Hi
Have you obtained the birth cert for George b in 1855? Birth certs from that year are particularly detailed.
