Title: 1851 derbyshire census;Brimington
Post by: 'Tricia on Sunday 17 July 05 23:50 BST (UK)
I would be very grateful if someone could check this family for me, please.

James Adams Head age 36 possibly born Repton Derbyshire
Charlotte Wife age 34 possibly born Ticknel Derbyshire
James Son age 14 born Brimington
Henry Son age 3 born Brimington

Folio 757 Schedule 20  ( Definitely living in Brimington)

I have seen transcript elsewhere and there are a couple of names which I don't recognise so would like to see the family group.

I have this family from 1861 onwards.

1841 would be a bonus ;)

Many thanks, Tricia

Thank you very much,Sue  :) :) This is the family I saw on the Name Index for 1851. Is North Wingfield in the Brimington district?

If anyone could help with more details from 1851 I would be most grateful.

Thanks for all your trouble, Tricia

Hi again,

North Wingfield is 5 miles from Brimington.  I think Clay Lane is now known as Clay Cross.

I don't know how much information you have from the 1851 name index so have listed all the Adams that match with same ref.  I can't tell you, of course, any others in the household with a different surname.  We have a looker on the Derbyshire board who is kind enough to look up the full transcriptions when he visits the Local Records Office as the full census is not yet available on CD ROM. You may be lucky enough to receive one as you have given the reference nos.

1851

ADAMS
James - 36
Charlotte - 34
Charles - 16
James - 14
Harriett - 11
John - 5
Henry - 3
Hannah - 1

          (HO107/ 2147/ 757/ 20)

All the best
Sue    :)

Thanks, Sue.

I'll wait to see if anyone else can help as well. Sure they are the correct family but don't recognise a few of those names so would like birthplaces if possible and then I can check out what happened to them. Just found a death reference for Enoch.

Very grateful for your help.

Tricia :)

Thanks, David.

I'm not too sure about place names in Derbyshire but I have seen his birthplace as Mieton as well. Don't know if it exists, though.

Thank you for your time - you are very kind ;D
