Hi all,
I am tracing the family history of a Charles Kearey (born c1813)-Bow and Poplar in London are possible places of birth. I know Charles married Mary Ann Percival in 1836. I can find him (living with Mary Ann's parents Edward and Sarah) in 1841. He was working as a Blacksmith in Portsea in 1851 and returned to Rotherhithe where the family settled for a couple of generations in 1861. Charles Kearey died in 1862.
My problem is that I just cannot find Charles' birth. I have looked on Ancestry using the London Metropolitan Archives and have also looked at any stored Public Trees on Ancestry.
Can anyone give me advice on where I should turn next please.

Kearey sounds Irish - was the family Catholic? If so you're much less likely to find his baptism in online records than if they were Church of England.

Have you tried a slightly different spelling?
There is this chap
Charles Carey born 15 Oct 1812 bapt 23rd October 1812 (ancestry say Tower Hamlets ,I think St Dunstan Stepney) son of William and Sarah Carey blacksmith.
brother John born 18th June 1814 baptised St Dunstan 25th September 1814 from Poplar.
John also seems to marry at Deptford to Elizabeth Lines 23.11.1834.
Charles is on Ancestry but I can't find John's baptism there .(FindMyPast)There seems to be various St Dunstan's Stepney on Ancestry and I thought there was just one.
