Title: Denis S Green
Post by: dathai on Tuesday 23 February 16 23:24 GMT (UK)
Hi all
my great great grandparents were Philip Green and Catherine Harrington from Cahergarriff in Cork,my great grandmother Honora was born in 1850.

I came across this death today and wondered could anybody find anything about him as he may be a possible sibling of Honora.

Unless there's another miner named Dennis S. Green in the area, this may be a report of his death - http://www.mfhn.com/houghton/rosscoll/news/mg1883_1.txt  The date given was in November 1883 rather than 1884, but maybe there was a mistranscription somewhere.

On the register that lists Dennis' death, he seems to be listed as Daniel - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N3V3-5LC  If you look on the 2nd page of the image, the date of the record was from 1885.  The exact date of the death was not listed.  I'm suspecting that he really died in 1883 as listed in the newspaper and things got confused when being transferred to this register.

Further to the above Denis i have found another sibling Catherine Green born about 1848 who married Daniel Murphy in 1868
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01l8l/
they had 2 children Michael Murphy 1869 and Julia Murphy 1870 both born Cromane,Cork

i then found a marriage for Anna Murphy to Patrick Talty in Racine ,Wisconsin 24th Sep 1901 giving the above as her parents but that she was born in Hancock,Michigan.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XRKK-9XT

I was wondering did they migrate after Julia's birth to the same area as Catherine's brother Denis ?

any help as always greatfully appreciated.

Just yesterday i found Denis's sister Julia Green had married late in life in  1911 age 52 to Jeremiah Coffey

so i looked at the civil cert and was surprised to find she was a widow Julia Shea nee Green dtr of Philip Green
1911
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Cork/Killaconenagh/Castletown_Bearhaven_Town/377793/
I then looked for her in 1901 as Shea and found her husband was Bartholemew, they were living in her birth place Cahergarriff
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cork/Killaconenagh/Cahergariff/1094258/
Batholemew died as Batt Shea on 11th Dec 1910 informant was Jeremiah Coffey the poor man was'nt cold in his grave when they got married a few weeks later
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1910/05408/4510792.pdf

my grandfather Denis O'Neill son of Honora Green was born 1885 in Dublin and his Godfather was Bartholemew O'Shea
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01l9n/
i had always wondered who Bartholemew was and now know he was his Uncle through his mother's side.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01l9n/

I wondered why i had never found Julia's marriage to Bartholemew
turns out that the priest recorded her name as Julia Sullivan dtr of Philip Sullivan and Catherine Harrington 26th Feb 1876
