Title: Marriage of Turner and Doyle
Post by: rchadz on Wednesday 24 February 16 02:25 GMT (UK)
Hi there,

So today I got a birth certificate for Ann Turner b 15th February 1850 in Leeds (Quarry Hill RD) born to William Turner who was an iron worker (b 1828 Newport, Shropshire) and Ellen Doyle (b 1830 Ashton-U-Lyne, Lancashire).  I can't find either of them on the 1851 census - but I expected them to still be in Leeds.  In 1861 and 1871 I can see them in Oldham.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

rchadz :)

Second child was b Lancs approx 1852.

If they were in Lancs in 1851 - a chunk of the 1851 was water damaged

See http://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles/census-for-england-wales-and-scotland-missing-pieces

When did they marry as I can't see anything obvious on freebmd etc

Thanks for that, no marriage certificate at this stage.

I have a copy of the damaged 1851 census so I will look there.
