Hello all
Sorry about my first query regarding John Butler, I was looking at the wrong generation and it was late at night here in Australia ... I have corrected William's and Rebecca's children's now. Any more information would be most appreciated.
Please can anybody help with finding ancestors of William Butler b.1775, possibly married Rebecca Lant b.1776. I'm don't know where he was born but his children were born in Ramsey, Huntingdonshire. The children were: Sarah b.1796, George b.1800 d.1853 (my x5 GGF), William b.1801 d.1882, Mary b.1803, John b.1807 d.1807. I would also be very interested in more information on Rebecca Lant if she is confirmed as William's wife. Any information would be most appreciated.

Have you eliminated this one, baptised 1776, Godmanchester, Huntingdon, with parents Jacob and Sarah? Might be worth trying to follow as John's eldest daughter was Sarah.

According to Freereg, it looks as if Rebecca Lant married a William Buttler (Butler?)

Are you sure you're not merging two families here? First child 1796, second 1823, last 1834 is too big a spread for the mother to have been the same one. Have you checked the parish register for the baptisms from which you should get the parents' names. In 1851 there's a Henry age 21 living in Ramsey with his mother Elizabeth 52 and and brother William 30 all born Ramsey.
Where are your details about the children from?

In 1841 living at Forty Foot Bridge, Ramsey, were Elizabeth Butler 40, William 20, George 19, Eloisa 17, John 15, Henry 12, James 4. Is this your family?

Please can anyone confirm the children's names of William Butler 1775 & Rebecca Lant 1776 married Ramsay, Huntingdonshire. I have; Sarah 1796, George 1801, Mary 1803, John 1807-1807. I think that Rebecca Butler (Lant) died in 1807 so could have been when she was in childbirth with John.
I would also like to confirm if William Butler (Buttler) 1775 then married Sarah Wright 1790 and they possibly had 15 children. I believe the first 5 children were: John 1808, Elizabeth 1810, Susanna 1812, Jane 1814, Henry 1816. Can anyone find the rest of the names?
Also, I would like to find the parents and siblings of William Butler 1775. His parents might have been George Butler 1750 & Mary Woodbine in Huntingdonshire

I am a descendant of William and Rebecca and still live about 2 miles from Ramsey!
I think you will find that William was Christened on 20 Nov 1774 in Ely (about 20 Miles from Ramsey) to George Butler and Mary Woodbine. William did indeed marry twice, firstly to Rebecca Lant and then Sarah Wright who I believe was herself a widow.
In terms of children of William and Rebecca my list agrees with yours except I additionally have a William Christened 7 March 1802 in Ramsey.
Have you managed to find out any more about Rebecca Lant?

William Lant married Sarah Rattford in Ramsey 7.8.1761
Children of William & Sarah:
1762 John, 1766 Sarah, 1767 Elizabeth, Ann 1771, Susannah 1773
and Rebecca baptised 10.1.1776.
As you know Rebecca married William Butler (Buttler)
If you like, I can show you the Butler family tree that I have so far, I've been working on it in Genes Reunited. I'm also interested in seeing how you're descended from William & Rebecca. There are loads of census records for Butler's in Ramsey throughout the 1800's and most of them seem to be related. A couple of them were publicans. My line of Butler's ended up in Middlesbrough in 1870. Then we immigrated to Australia in 1966. Living so close to Ramsey you must be in an excellent position to access all the old records?

Do you have any more info on the Butlers of Ramsey & Ely?
Also interested in more info on George Butler's 2nd wife Sarah Wright. According to the info that I have she was only 17 when he married her and she was already a widow!? I suspect she was born 1780 not 1790.

My descendency from William & Rebecca is via George (1798), John (1830), Robert Thomas (1870) and their son Leonard who was my Grandfather.
I wasnt aware that George married twice so unfortunately dont have any other information on her.
