Title: Names - AUSTYN or AUGUSTINE or AUGUSTYNE
Post by: MattD30 on Monday 07 March 16 00:59 GMT (UK)
Can anyone tell me if Austyn could be a variation of Augustine or Augustyne? I have an Agustin Abbott who died in Salisbury and whose Will I have. In it he mentions his wife Elizabeth but the only marriage I have found is between an Austyn Abbott and Elizabeth Shaslyn in 1575. This would fit with the date of the will and also Augustine's birth (I suspect he was born in the 1540s or 1550s)

This would confirm yes.

VARIANTS: Austin, Austen, Austyn

Many thanks for that. I did think the names were connected but it is useful to get it clarified. I'll keep a note of that website too as it will be useful for other names too.

Thanks again
