Title: Roman Catholic Records
Post by: DINGinWALES on Friday 11 March 16 16:29 GMT (UK)
I have sent for a couple of marriage certificates which show that some of my ancestors were married in St Winefreds Chapel, Holywell. I think that their children would have been baptised there and there may also be other records which might help me find the name of my 3x g grandmother. However, I have no idea how (or even if it's possible) to access RC records and how I might go about it. Any advice appreciated  :)

Some names and dates would be helpful.

Thanks Mike

The name I am trying to find is the mother of Margaret Hussian. Margaret was born abt 1829 in Galway Ireland. Her father's name was Morris. I have had no luck finding anything in Ireland on any of the Hussians. She married Peter Griffiths in 1849 in St Winefrides Chapel, Holywell ( I have the marriage cert). They lived and died in Mold. On the certificate it gives the witnesses as Michael Hussian and Margaret Hussian. On one of their children's birth certificates, her name is given as Heshan. I have also got her brother, Morris Hushin's (b abt 1816 Ireland) marriage certificate. He married Margaret Burke (b abt 1819 Ireland) in St Winefrides Chapel, Holywell. They had at least three children, Patrick (1845, Michael 1845, Mary 1847 whilst living in Milford Street, Mold. They then are found on 1851 census in Ovenden, Yorkshire. That's it. I can't find any of them in Wales, England or Ireland other than this. I suspect there may be more records in St Winefrides because I've found the births of the children registered but no baptisms. I am trying to find anything on this family in the hope there will be a clue to Margaret Hessian's mother.
