Post by: puggypugs on Saturday 19 March 16 09:16 GMT (UK)
Hi all.  Looking for help to trace the following in or around Cork.
Hannah Lane/Mahoney/O'Mahoney nee Murphy born 1875
First husband Dennis Lane.  May have died by 1901 census.
Second husband Thomas Mahoney. Still alive in 1911  DOB unknown.
Third husband Cornelius O'Mahoney around 1918. DOB unkown.

Children: Elizabeth Eileen (Lil) born 1898 in Castlemagner, Cork.
               Dennis Lane (Dinny) born 1900
              Thomas Mahoney born 1906
               Richard Mahoney born 1907
Etta Mahoney born abt 1908 (guess) This may be a nickname. May be Bridget.   Died as a teenager.  No death year found.
Hannah Mahoney  born 1912 in Spa Glen, Mallow.
Mary O'Mahoney born 1918 in Cork City.
I may have found them in 1901 living with possibly Hannahs parents in Tincorra, Lyre - father Dennis Murphy mother Johannah.  Haven't found any likelies for 1911 despite having all this info.   Would be grateful for fresh eyes to help.
Thanks for help.

Kanturk and Mallow Reg districts are right next to each other, so perhaps Kanturk is her home district for the first marriage and they lived in his district of Mallow.

That chaps wife Mary may also have Hannah in her name as this 1905 death for Denis Lane gives his age as 70 which would be in keeping with the Denis in the Census aged 64

So a dead end there.

Wow I'm amazed at all this information.   I think the 1901 family with  Hannah widowed as all the dates are right for children and Hannahs age which means her husband died before the census.  Thanks for baptism info aswell I will look at those people more closely.  I can't understand why I cant find anything for 1911.  They seem to stay in Cork the whole time but Hannah is certainly moving around alot. Never in the same place for each record.   I will look at Kanturk for more info.   Thanks everybody.  Astounding work. 😊

😳 Scrolling through the images!  Will be more like a game of hide and seek with all the locations they were at! I will have to try all the places on each record by the looks of it.   Thanks for sending that.

Putting this back out there Rootschat  ;)
Hi  :).  Still looking for a 1911 census for Hannah Mahoney and family.
I have since checked the Margaret Mahoney born 1909 and she's not mine.  Found the family in 1911 census fathers occupation Jarvey.  I also looked at baptisms for Hannah born 1875,Jeremiah,Maurice and Mary with mother Johanna Buckley.  I believe they are mine.

I do know Hannah would have been heavily pregnant with daughter Hannah Mahoney 2nd April 1911 when census done because Dau Hannah born 9th April in SPA GLEN.  I have browsed census for Spa Glen and she's not there yet.   I found potential brother Maurice in Spa Glen.

I would appreciate help with having another look at 1911 census.  Surname could be spelt Mahoney/Mahony/O'Mahoney.  Have seen it on certs written all 3 ways.  Details of Hannah and family:-

Thomas Mahoney.  occupation labourer ( age Unknown )
Hannah Mahoney born 1875 ( poss baptised Johanna)
(Elizabeth/Bessie/Lil Lane b. 1898 - may not be with them)
(Denis/Dennis/ Dinny Lane b 1900 - may not be with them)
Richard b. 1906
Thomas b. 1907
Etta ( name Unknown. Could be Margaret or Bridget) b. Approx 1908/1909

I have spent years on this search.  It may be they were travelling. Until I find the census Etta will remain a mystery.  She died as a teenager and all we have is 2 photos in which to guess her age comparing her to the others.
Would appreciate help on this.  Thanks very much.
Regards

Hi
I have looked up death for Denis Lane 1899 that may be mine.  There is a word/place name I cannot find on the Internet.  I have tried attaching a photo but failed miserably!  The word appears under names so must be a place name. It looks like Sahendarra/sachendarra.  Written twice on entry but the first entry the first bit of the word is missing but it looks like a 'ch' where as second entry looks like 'ah'.   I'll keep trying to download image.
Would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks
