Title: Missing Irish baptism for Philip Clark
Post by: Rosezi on Monday 21 March 16 14:20 GMT (UK)
Help needed to find my 3x great-grandfather's baptism. Born abt 1820, he married Susan McCann in Liverpool 1853.  His  marriage record said his parents were called Bryan and Rose.  By 1856 he was a widower and in 1871, was living in Liverpool with his brother Patrick  and family, plus their other brother John.
Family members have said the Clark's came over from Ireland, but not sure which side. The only baptisms for a Bryan and Rose Clark I can find are from Dunshaughlin, co. Meath, but no baptism for a Philip. I have searched Ancestry, FindMyPast and rootsireland.ie, and also  baptisms in Liverpool. but no luck so far.

I'm a little confused  ::) - which marriage record has his mother's name? and if his mother's name was Rose, wouldn't she have been baptised Rose Maiden Name not Clark?

Have you found the baptisms of brothers Patrick & John?

Do Philip, Patrick & John give Ireland as a place of birth on the censuses?

Josey

ADDED: Ah I see you probably mean you have found baptisms for CHILDREN of Bryan & Rose in CO Meath....

Hi
Yes, Liverpool census says Ireland as their date of birth. The Co. Meath baptisms I have found are: Mary 1803, Catherine 1805, and Patrick 1808.

I suggest you browse through the parish registers (free) at
http://registers.nli.ie/.
They are not indexed but you have an idea of the years to look at. You could look for the parents marriage as well.

ADDED: Found Mary - 12 Nov 1803 parents Bryan Clarke & Rose Wogan so the parish is correct. You may need to browse several years depending on the range of ages you have for Philip - given on census records & marriage.

Thanks for your help, I'll have a look at the website.

Also bear in mind that 1820 is hitting the point where Irish records start dwindle sharply. Many parishes would not have records going back that far, and as you don't know where in Ireland the family was from it's quite possible the family in Meath are a red herring.
Title: Ancestry member asking me to remove my tree from their page!
Post by: Rosezi on Saturday 22 September 18 15:25 BST (UK)
This is related to earlier post on the same Clark family

I received a message from an American lady on Ancestry, "Hey, would you remove your tree from my page, its confusing"  I'm not quite sure what she means by "removing my tree". Apparently, she  contacted Ancestry  and they told her that I had to do it.

When I took a look at her tree, it looks like we both have the same ancestor Patrick Clark on our trees. She believes he is her 4x great-grandfather and I believe him to be my 4x great uncle. My Patrick Clark died in Liverpool in 1877, but her Patrick Clark died in the States. I found his birth in 1808 Dunshaughlin, Co Meath along with two sisters, Catherine in 1805 and Mary 1803 - parents Bryan Clarke and Rose Wogan - and these are the same parents that appear on my 4x great-grandfather's (Patrick's brother) marriage record in Liverpool in 1853.

Has anyone else been asked to remove their tree by another Ancestry member?  I've had about 6 messages from her trying to convince me that I have added the wrong Patrick Clarke, but I have too many documents that prove otherwise

Your tree is your tree.

Her tree is her tree.

If you didn't put anything on her tree then how can you remove anything??

I don't have a tree on Ancestry but I'd be inclined to ask her for a screen shot to explain how your tree is on her page.

Your as entitled to have a tree as she is, if it's just a case of your tree coming up as hints for her than you don't need to do anything, it's her problem.

Thinking about it some more, I wonder has she accepted a hint about Patrick and your tree has been attached to hers.
In which case it up to her to remove those records from her tree.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I think your right, she must have clicked on a hint that led her to my tree and saw all my documents for Patrick Clark and its confusing her, I did tell her that our Patrick Clarks are two different men. It's just odd that Ancestry told "her " that if was up to me to remove records. I looked on her tree and there is no sign of any of my records

It is no different  than those "trees" on Ancestry where people assemble records because they "look right".... try telling one of them that their tree is wrong!

Ancestry can look and see if you added something or not!!

Why not just block her from contacting you again?
