I've recently discovered that my maiden family name (Merrigan) and my married family name (Doyle) have had connections many times before. I've finally made the connection between my first husband's family and my family as follows:
Patrick W. Merrigan - b. 1825 d. 1889 m. Margaret Doyle - b. 1834 d. 1914
Both were born in Co. Wicklow, Ireland and both died in the states South Dakota
Patrick would be my 1st cousin 5x removed.
I'm interested in finding out more about their lives in Ireland.
Thank you for any assistance.
Tara Merrigan-Doyle

Hi Tara-Leigh
It is really interesting when we make connections with names
Of course firstly they may just be the same name rather than the family
and secondly once your a few times removed....
Did Patrick and Margaret marry in the USA or Ireland?
Do you have any details of their parents?
The 1820s and 1830s records are scarce and you would require more than a name to search, especially with DOYLE as there are many families of this name in Wicklow
I don't immediately see a birth for Patrick Merrigan

Hi, this is the list of Marrigan's from the Tithe records.
May help in pinpointing a Parish.
