I'm doing my research on the Miller family for my husband. According to the Parish of Dornoch wedding certificate of William Miller, aged 23 of Dornoch (to Margaret Forbes aged 22 of Dornoch) his father is William Miller, Mason, Journeyman and his mother is Margaret Charleson, Domestic Servant. I cannot find anything on Scotland's People relating to either the father or the mother for birth, marriage or death. Does anyone have information which can help me please

The date of the wedding might help ;)

Kay, to add a little to info you have added above. Mother Margaret Charleson looks to have had a number of children, all registered under her maiden name of Charleson:

Just seen you have found the likely 1871 entry. Looks like the children went by the surname of the reputed fathers....of which there seems to be a few...

Yes - there are a variety of names :-\

There are also at least two Caithness born men with the occupation of Mason in the 1871 census who could be the William Miller given as being William's father when he married in 1894. Will be hard to find more really on reputed father without some hard info on him unfortunately :-\

He was listed as a Journeyman Mason I think as well so may have been even further away :-\
